Chicago Sky Honor Angel Reese Following Exciting News originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Chicago Sky are back in action on Saturday afternoon as they take on the league-best 18-3 Minnesota Lynx. This will mark the second meeting between the two teams this week, with the Lynx edging out a thrilling 80-75 victory last Sunday.
Much of the spotlight this week, however, has been on Sky forward Angel Reese, who is currently in the midst of one of the best stretches of her WNBA career.
Adding to the excitement, it was announced that Reese will grace the cover of NBA 2K26’s WNBA edition. Oklahoma City Thunder MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was named the cover athlete for the NBA edition, while Carmelo Anthony will be featured on the Legends edition.
In celebration of Reese’s historic achievement, the Sky honored her ahead of Saturday’s matchup by placing customized “2K26” t-shirts featuring her image on every seat at Wintrust Arena.
“2K26,” the team posted on social media, along with a photo of the shirts draped across the arena.
Angel Reese is only in her second WNBA season, but she’s already taken over the reins as the NBA 2K26 cover athlete—following in the footsteps of 2024 MVP A’ja Wilson, who held the honor last year.
This season, Reese is averaging 13.3 points, 12.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 42.4% from the field and 78.7% from the free-throw line.
She’s grabbed 15 or more rebounds in six of her last seven games and continues to be a dominant force for the Sky. Despite their 6-13 record, Chicago has begun playing more competitive basketball—driven in large part by the energy and impact of the former LSU national champion.
