Chicago Sky Star on Temporary Leave Involved in Big News on Monday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Chicago Sky have struggled to start the WNBA season, working under coach Tyler Marsh during his first year with the organization.
Sophomores Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso lead Chicago.
Both players have seen a significant improvement in their second season with the team, but the Sky still sit at 5-12 on the season.
While Reese has been maintaining high levels of production for the Sky, Chicago has been without Cardoso for the past several games.
Cardoso has spent the last week with the Brazilian national team, playing in the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup.
While the Sky are missing their star center, Cardoso received big news for her involvement in the AmeriCup.
FIBA announced their official All-Star 5 and Cardoso was included in the bunch, alongside Mikayla Blakes, Damiris Dantas, Syla Swords and Hannah Hidalgo.
Cardoso and Danatas, both of whom play on Team Brazil, were the only two WNBA players listed in the FIBA All-Star 5.
Kamilla Cardoso and the Brazilian national team qualified for the AmeriCup final during the FIBA match in Chile.
Team Brazil may have had a stacked frontcourt that headlined the WNBA talent, but Team USA led the way and ultimately won gold.
During her second season with the Chicago Sky, Kamilla Cardoso has averaged 12.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
Cardoso last played with the Sky on June 25. While an official return date has yet to be announced, Cardoso should be back in Chicago’s lineup shortly, given the finale of the FIBA AmeriCupW.
