Clackmannan County Cricket Club’s 1st XI have recorded an impressive win.
The first team batted first at Peffermill Oval against the Edinburgh University Staff.
Hoping to lead them to victory, match winner Dave Hunt led the way with 31 runs with Tariq Mehboob and Kayne Nicholson supporting with 24 and 23 runs.
With Clackmannan finishing on a respectable 106 runs, the university team began well.
They were ahead with 69 runs for only two wickets.
However, Nicholson, and Hunt came into the attack and bowled tidily, and it became very difficult for the University team to score.
Clackmannan were “brilliant” in the field, with four run outs and an impressive catch by Ninad Hardikar sealing an “unforgettable” win by 16 runs.
The second team scored a “respectable” 151 runs in their match at The Arns with Gordon Oliver top scoring at 71 runs and Adarsh Bhardwaj on 16.
After some rain, Tranent reached the total within 35 overs despite a good catch by Tom Smith who removed their opening batsman.
The Clacks first team will face Bass Rock at home this weekend, with the second team away to Murrayfield DAFS.
Recent matches have all started on a Saturday at 1pm.
