    As the NCAA Tournament reigns supreme as the top postseason event in college basketball and the NIT continues to be played, another tournament will be introduced in men’s hoops this season.

    Put on by Fox Sports and the Anschutz Entertainment Group, the College Basketball Crown is a new postseason tournament aimed at giving teams in Power conferences and others that didn’t make the NCAA Tournament a chance to continue their season and play for a title. The entire tournament will be played in Las Vegas and will feature 16 teams with some guaranteed selections from the Big Ten, Big 12 and Big East. While the dates for the tournament are known, not much else is known about the tournament nor who will be in it.
    Still, it’s an intriguing alternate option for college hoops and will be one to watch outside of the NCAA Tournament. Here’s what we know about the inaugural College Basketball Crown.
    An alternative postseason tournament for teams that didn’t make the NCAA Tournament and separate from the NIT.
    The College Basketball Crown will be played in one week. It take place from Monday, March 31 through the final on Sunday, April 6.
    It has not been announced when the College Basketball Crown bracket will be announced or shown. A Fox Sports spokesperson told USA TODAY Sports last week that the field would be revealed “early next week.”
    The College Basketball Crown bracket has not been released yet.
    There will be 16 teams in the College Basketball Crown. It is a typical single-elimination format.
    Six of the 16 teams will come from the Big East, Big Ten and Big 12. The conferences mentioned will each get two teams in the field. The rest of the field will be at-large selections, although the criteria for selecting those teams has not been announced.
    The entire tournament will be played in Las Vegas. The first and second rounds will be played at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The semifinals and finals will be played at T-Mobile Arena.
    All tournament games will be aired on Fox or FS1. The first and second round games will air on FS1. The semifinals and championship game will air on Fox.
