Lifeline of Cricket

Yashasvi Jaiswal has completed 2000 runs in Test cricket. The southpaw reached the mark in India’s second innings of the Edgbaston Test against England. He was looking set for a big score before a rush of blood ended his knock. Josh Tongue bowled a good length delivery, and Jaiswal, who was looking for a boundary, tried to take on the bowler but missed it completely.
The on-field umpire gave him LBW, and despite taking a DRS, the Indian batter had no chance to survive. Jaiswal hit 6 fours in his innings of 28 runs.
Sunil Gavaskar, who has been hailing the player for his contributions, didn’t criticise him. Instead, he liked the batting approach of the 23-year-old Indian cricketer.
“He could have gone on to score a hundred tomorrow. It is going to be a big day in the context of the game. He should keep bat close to his pads to avoid such dismissals. It was a good length delivery and Jaiswal should have defended it,” Sunil Gavaskar said.
“Cricketers of this generation are fearless and when you play this brand of cricket, you will occasionally fell on low scores,” he added.
