Dodgers Provide ‘Good News’ on Mookie Betts Injury Despite Monday Night Scratch originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts was not in the starting lineup on Monday night as the New York Mets came to town.
Betts has been dealing with a fractured toe, but according to a pre-game update from manager Dave Roberts on June 2, the Monday night scratch is no cause for concern.
“Rare good news on the injury front for the Dodgers,” MLB on FOX insider Ken Rosenthal relayed on Monday night after hearing from Roberts.
“Mookie Betts, today, at Dodgers Stadium fielded ground balls, ran the bases, took batting practice, and Dave Roberts told reporters that as long as he came out of this okay, as long as he didn’t suffer a flare up with that toe, he should be good to go.”
Rosenthal even noted that Betts could be available on Monday night off the bench, although he has yet to enter the game at the time of this article’s completion.
But if the Dodgers choose to rest Betts on June 2, Rosenthal added that he could “potentially” return to the starting lineup tomorrow on June 3.
Over 53 appearances in 2025, Betts is batting .254, with 8 home runs and 31 RBIs. It’s been a down year for the former MLB MVP and 8-time All-Star in most areas, but he’ll look to turn things around upon returning from injury.
Heading into the bottom of the sixth inning on June 2, the Dodgers trail the Mets by a score of 2-0. In his first major league start back from injury, veteran pitcher Paul Blackburn held the Los Angeles offense down for the first five innings.
