Dr. Trent Cayot, associate professor of Exercise Science, received recognition for his contribution in the sports medicine field at the annual meeting of the Midwest Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
The Midwest ACSM works to promote research advancements in the sports medicine field, to arrange meetings for sports medicine researchers, educators, students, and physicians, and to spread more information and research relating to sports medicine.
Dr. Cayot received the 2025 Midwest ACSM Founders Award. This award is given annually to one professional who has contributed to sports medicine significantly within their region. Dr. Cayot was honored to receive the award since the organization helped him grow as a student.
“I was very humbled and taken back to have been awarded the Founders Award from the Midwest ACSM,” said Dr. Cayot. “Midwest ACSM provided me with valuable experiences when I was a student, and it has been very fulfilling to be able to give back to the next generation of students by serving the Midwest ACSM. Many professionals that I look up to in the sports medicine field within the Midwest region have been previously awarded the Founders Award. Therefore, it was a very surreal feeling to have joined the list of awardees.”
