The college basketball season will be here before you know it. Sure, football season comes first, but it won’t be long before gym floors are squeaking again and hoops fans get their fix.
One thing that never stops is the recruitment process. Top programs across the country are now focused on the class of 2026. These rising seniors are heading into a pivotal year as they prepare for their final high school season and start making decisions about where they’ll play at the next level.
Joe Tipton of On3 Sports shared the latest update on one of the top 2026 recruits, combo guard Austin Goosby. Goosby is drawing attention from several major programs, including Duke.
“2026 Top-30 recruit Austin Goosby has scheduled official visits to Duke, Texas, Baylor, BYU, Miami, SMU, and UCLA, he tells @On3Recruits.”
Goosby, a 6-foot-5 four-star guard out of Melissa, Texas, received an offer from Duke head coach Jon Scheyer on June 17. His official visit schedule is packed, starting with SMU on July 28 and UCLA on July 30. In September, he’ll head to Texas and Baylor before finishing the month with visits to Miami and BYU. His final stop is scheduled for Duke on Oct. 2.
Duke, led by Scheyer, is coming off a stellar 35-4 season. The Blue Devils went 19-1 in ACC play and reached the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament. They finished third in the final Associated Press poll.
The 2025-26 Duke squad will look quite different after the departures of Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel, Tyrese Proctor, Sion James and Khaman Maluach, Duke’s top five scorers from last season.
But with Scheyer’s strong recruiting and Goosby’s interest in the program, Duke continues to stay in the mix as a premier destination for top high school talent.
