Has Bazball become boring? Flat tracks where we chase down 400 on the last day. Yawn.

India should be able to bat another 40-odd overs with their wickets left and that’ll take them to 500.
Shoaib Bashir with the first over after drinks. He tosses one up to Shubman Gill with his third delivery, but the India skipper does not bite and watches the ball grip and turn but comfortably miss the stumps.
Gill's defence looks solid as he sees out a maiden.

Morning, if you could pick a team of English style Bazballers all at their peak, from 2005 all the way through to now, what would your line-up look like for Oz? I'd go Tres, Duckett, Root (out of place but…), KP, Brook, Stokes, Flintoff, Prior, Swann, S Jones, Harmy. Aggressive batting, quick bowling.

The first hour belongs to the tourists.
A few little glimmers of hope for England, but in all honesty it's been relatively comfortable for India.
This could be a long day.

England are chasing their tails somewhat at the moment.
A change of tac from Ben Stokes. He scatters the field to Ravindra Jadeja and encourages Brydon Carse to bang it in short.
At the first time of asking Jadeja takes on the pull shot and controls it down to square leg.

That could have gone anywhere from Ravindra Jadeja off Shoaib Bashir. It's the first sign that Jadeja is a bit itchy to get going.

Carse & Tongue will be dropped at Lord's. Rest Carse’s feet and Tongue doesn’t look good enough for this level. Archer and Potts to return?
    Graham, Essex
India should make the most of this Test and enjoy the batting. Going forward England will be less generous. Jofra Archer will be back and this gentle England attack will look a lot more fearsome.

It's times like this where we really need something different, like express pace or mystery spin. Picking up a wicket before lunch looks extremely unlikely.

Shoaib Bashir finding a bit of drift into the breeze.
The left-handed Ravindra Jadeja dances down the pitch to the England off-spinner but does not connect cleanly, inside edges it and England prevent the single.
One in the cap for Bashir.
Over in county cricket, it's also been tough going for the bowlers, who are having to use the Kookaburra ball rather than the traditional Dukes ball.
59 centuries were scored in the County Championship in the last two round of matches. Our colleague Adam Lanigan has been investigating why the runs have been flowing and why it's a contentious issue in the Shires.

A good nut from Brydon Carse, who beats the outside edge of Shubman Gill's defensive prod. That's about as close as England have got this morning.
However, Gill picks up consectuive boundaries off the Durham seamer – the second of them a delicious square drive off one that is slightly overpitched.
Carse bellows 'catch' after the final ball of the over pops up off the edge of Gill's bat but there's nobody within range and the ball plops safe.
Shoaib Bashir replaces Chris Woakes as Ben Stokes shuffles his pack in search of a breakthrough.
The off-spinner brushes his back between deliveries as he bowls slightly into the breeze. Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja, as was largely the case yesterday, content to knock him into the gaps.
Plain sailing for the tourists so far this morning.
Brydon Carse, shirt untucked, bounds in with a bit of a grimace. He seemed to be carrying a bit of an injury yesterday and has had well-documented problems with his toes.
Neither Ravindra Jadeja nor Shubman Gill seem particularly troubled. It's going to take a good seed or a bit of a brain fade, perhaps, to dislodge them.
    Michael Vaughan
Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special

It's interesting that Ben Stokes has gone with himself today because I think Brydon Carse was second best after Chris Woakes yesterday.
There's been a few deliveries that have been short of the length today and have been steeper but other than that it's been a road.
How often has Ravindra Jadeja rode to his side's rescue against England?!

Shubman Gill has such a glorious cover drive and plays it with so much ease.
Shubman Gill is given a full length delivery from Chris Woakes and beautifully drives it through the covers for four. All balance, poise and elegance.

England aren't finding as much lateral movement with this second new ball compared to the first (1.4° v 1.1° combined swing and seam), but are bowling tighter, with 35% of deliveries since the change on a good line and length. The breakthrough hasn't come yet, but the foundations are there.
