The ground staff are absolutely legging it here. The rain has well and truly begun.
England are rushing off in a reviled fashion.
    Eng 79-7
You can see the rain falling on Em Arlott's helmet now… and the covers are coming on.
The rain isn't too bad just yet but it's enough to force the players off.
    England might have been saved…
The numerous groundstaff have literally got the big blue tarpaulin in their hands, ready to run on when they get the signal.
So far, the umpires are holding off…

They key for Pakistan will be wrapping this innings up as quickly as possible and trying to get in for a bat. However, once it starts raining it really does not stop.
Em Arlott is the new batter as Pakistan try to finish this innings off.
A single last ball denies Rameen Shamim a wicket maiden.
The groundstaff are poised. It is raining now and who would have thought it'd be England wanting a heavy downpour?

Alice Capsey shakes her head as she heads off. She hung around but it did feel like she was fighting her natural instinct because of the situation she was in.

A bit of redemption for Rameen Shamim after the drop of Capsey from her bowling. She has come back and got another lbw.
    Capsey lbw b Rameen 16 (Eng 78-7)
Gone. Pakistan are celebrating wildly again!
It looked plumb and it was. Alice Capsey knew that, too, but was talked into reviewing given she was England's last remaining recognised batter.
A first wicket for off-spinner Rameen Shamim, just sliding that under the bat of Capsey as the right-hander tried to sweep.

Alice Capsey goes for the sweep, a shot she has played so many times. You feel like England have to take the review.

Alice Capsey misses with a sweep and she's been given out.
She reviews but I think she knows she's done for here…

I’ll admit, I’m now praying for rain. But with so many rain-affected games, was it a good idea to host a cricket tournament in Colombo during Monsoon season?
    Alex, Birmingham.
After 18 balls without a run, England get the scoreboard moving again with an Alice Capsey single.
Charlie Dean then nudges the ball into the leg side and they scamper back for two.
Pakistan are trying to race through their overs before the rain comes.

Pakistan have missed a huge opportunity in Alice Capsey – that is what we have seen from the lower-ranked teams.
England will not be too bothered by the run-rate as they can cash in with the lower-order batters.
Another maiden but Charlie Dean is frustrated with herself.
She knows she has missed out after hitting a drag-down from Rameen Shamim straight to cover.

England need to change their strategy. Just block the ball for as long as possible and wait for the rain.

Pakistan have got to start bowling straighter and hit the stumps every single time. Those deliveries have caused the most problem but they have drifted away from that in the last 30 minutes or so.
Maiden over from Nashra Sandhu as Alice Capsey continues to dig in.
She's beaten by a ripper midway through the over but no harm done on this occasion.
Still the rain is holding off.

The clouds are getting darker and darker here.
As the headline is sorted by my line manager and I have an appraisal coming up, I have to say I think it is excellent and in no way harsh to either side. Perfectly judged, I'd say…
Pakistan have now bowled 20 overs, which is good news for them if the rain comes and sets in. It means there only needs to be time for 20 more overs to be bowled once it stops, they bat and that will constitute a game.

I think saying that 'woeful England slump to 57-6' is a fraction harsh on Pakistan, who have bowled superbly. I would say only one England batter has played a bad shot to be fair.
    David in Middlesbrough
Calmness needed here. Cobble up to 130/140 and there's every chance of defending it against Pakistan's batting line-up.
