FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned from various sources that US neobroker Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ:HOOD) is beginning to aggressively expand its Event Contracts prediction markets offerings.
The effort kicked off last Friday (October 17), when Robinhood added 20 political event contracts to its lineup, and it continued this week with the launch of another 15 election contracts, including several surrounding the much-talked-about New York mayoral race, the new NBA pro basketball season, and baseball’s upcoming World Series championship.
Over the coming weeks and months Robinhood plans to add 100+ new Event Contracts across sports, politics, economics, business, culture, and more. New contracts will apparently drop on a weekly basis, with updates will shared via @RobinhoodApp on X.
Robinhood’s Event Contracts prediction markets have received significant attention for their rapid growth, since the company offered its first event contract for the 2024 presidential election and then launched a dedicated Prediction Markets Hub earlier this spring. We reported late last month that Robinhood shares rose to an all-time high, after the company was added to the S&P 500 Index, and revealed significant growth in client trading of Event Contracts.
Prediction Markets allow Robinhood clients to use an “Event Contract”, or binary option, to make a prediction on the outcome of an event – such as a College or NFL Football game, or election.
Political Event Contracts launched by Robinhood last week and this week, as well as sports related Event Contracts launched this week, include the following.
