The Indian bowlers backed up the efforts of their batters, restricting New Zealand to 271/8 in 44 overs and securing an emphatic win in a rain affected match.
While India has officially qualified for the semi-finals with 6 points, New Zealand can still equal the hosts in terms of points but the Black Ferns still cannot make it to the next stage.
In this article, we take a look at how India qualified for the Women’s World Cup 2025 semifinals, even though New Zealand can still reach 6 points.
As per the ICC Tournament rules, if teams are tied on points, the team with the greater number of wins will qualify for the knockouts, and net run rate won’t be considered.
While New Zealand can reach a total of six points with a win in their last encounter, they have only won a single game in this World Cup, while two of their games have ended with no result.
