Many expected the Chargers to heavily rely on the run offensively due to the histories of head coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman. But even before Los Angeles lost running backs Najee Harris and Omarion Hampton due to injuries, the Chargers were letting Justin Herbert air the ball out. Herbert leads the NFL with 1,913 passing yards this season. Los Angeles is throwing on 64.91% of plays, the third-most in the NFL this season. Meanwhile, the Vikings have the No. 7 pass defense, allowing just 184 passing yards per game, as Herbert vs. the Minnesota secondary could determine the winner.
The Chargers are favored by 3.5 points in the latest Week 8 Thursday Night Football NFL odds for NFL betting at Fanatics Sportsbook. The over/under is set at 44.5 points as Carson Wentz will start his fifth straight game for the Vikings, who are 2-2 in his starts. Use the latest Fanatics Sportsbook promo code here:
