Former Pakistan Captain's Son Compares Kohli Groomed By Legends, Babar Self-made – Cricket.com

Azam Khan, son of former Pakistan captain and one of the most famous wicketkeeper-batters, Moin Khan, has backed Babar Azam to come back strong and has said that his comparison with Virat Kohli was not far-fetched.
Azam rather put it on the lack of a batting mentor in the Pakistan team that has resulted in the recent downfall of Babar.
Speaking to the Crickwick podcast, Azam, as quoted by Hindustan Times said, “Pakistan cricket was famous because of fast bowling. But this guy made it famous because of his batting. There is a huge difference. Like what Virat Kohli did for India."
Comparing the kind of batters Virat had to look up to while being a young batter in the Indian dressing room to what Babar had, Azam said, “Virat Kohli had someone around him who was a legend at that time. In the era he started playing in, he had VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, and MS Dhoni. So many big batters.”
“But who was there with Babar? There was no one,” added the 27-year-old, who has played 14 T20Is for Pakistan.
As for Babar, since his inclusion back into the Pakistan T20 set-up after the Asia Cup 2025, he has scores of 0, 11, 68, 7 and 11 in three T20Is and two ODIs respectively, against a touring South African side.
