The French Open semifinal stage is set for the men’s singles competition at Roland Garros as Carlos Alcaraz and Lorenzo Musetti take the court on Friday, followed by Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic.
No. 2 seed Alcaraz dominated a scrappy Tommy Paul in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, 6-4, in the quarterfinals as his impressive run in the French Open continues.
Musetti advanced after defeating Frances Tiafoe, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2, in their quarterfinal clash. The Italian swept through his first two matches before winning his third and fourth-round matchups in four sets. With Aclaraz not having a perfect campaign so far — Ben Shelton gave Alcaraz some trouble in his previous match — Musetti will look to exploit those errors and produce an upset over the Spaniard.
Sinner, meanwhile, has shown why he is the No. 1 ranked player in the world, as he has yet to drop a set at Roland Garros. Although several competitors have tested his will, Sinner's composure has been key to his success so far. Sinner secured a trip to the semifinals after overcoming Alexander Bublik to take their quarterfinal match, 6-1, 7-5, 6-0.
Facing the world No. 1 is Djokovic, who’s proved age is just a number throughout this French Open. The 38-year-old swept through the first four rounds before dropping his first set to Alexander Zverev on Tuesday. However, Djokovic rallied, winning three straight sets in a grueling matchup and showing why he is a 24-time Grand Slam champion.
