India blew open a nip-and-tuck Test at Lord’s by bowling England out for just 192 on the fourth day, leaving themselves a target of 193 for victory.
The Lord’s pitch began to behave erratically on the fourth morning, and England contrived to collapses twice, reaching 65 for four in the morning session, then six for 38 after Joe Root had steadied the ship.
Here, Telegraph Sport assesses whether each England batsman was guilty or not of giving his wicket away.
FoW: 22-1 (over 5.5)
India have their first wicket of the morning and Mohammed Siraj is PUMPED! 😤 pic.twitter.com/E82tOyH1O5
Duckett had looked comfortable, until he aimed a horrible pulled swipe at a length ball from Mohammed Siraj and was taken simply at mid-on.
FoW: 42-2 (over 11.6)
Mohammed Siraj is FIRED UP! 🔥
Shubman Gill reviews correctly to overturn an Ollie Pope LBW decision 👀 pic.twitter.com/u1BoUVYA4E
Pope is guilty of having a dreadful second-innings record and a vulnerable technique, but this was a fine piece of bowling from Siraj, a wobble ball that nipped down the slope.
FoW: 50-3 (over 14.4)
A loose Zak Crawley brings up India's third wicket of the morning session 🇮🇳 pic.twitter.com/I2HdqNdZEQ
Crawley had been softened up by Jasprit Bumrah’s uneven bounce, and fell to Nitish Kumar Reddy for the second time in the match. For the fourth time in five innings, Crawley went too hard at a ball outside off stump. Yashasvi Jaiswal, one of the two gullies, pouched it gratefully.
FoW: 87-4 (over 21.1)
Harry Brook attempts another sweep but is BOWLED by Akash Deep 😳 pic.twitter.com/c5lG9n8NVn
England had settled, with Brook playing some beautiful strokes. But lunch was approaching and this was premeditated – unwise.
FoW: 142-5 (over 42.4)
A HUGE breakthrough for India! 💥
Washington Sundar scalps Joe Root and England are five down 😬 pic.twitter.com/exWbQOHXuu
Root and Ben Stokes had worked so hard in the afternoon session. Washington Sundar was bowling from the Nursery End, making Root’s sweep unwise.
FoW: 164-6 (over 46.2)
Jamie Smith is the next to fall! 😲

Smith was also done by the lack of turn, but also drift away from the bat. Maybe the ball also stayed a touch low to beat his defence.
FoW: 181-7 (over 54.3)
Washington Sundar strikes AGAIN! 😳
Ben Stokes departs for 33 ❌ pic.twitter.com/DjmzIlRbmr
Stokes had got one swept boundary away after tea, but this was an ugly smear to a ball that was always speared in too quickly towards his stumps.
FoW: 182-8 (over 55.1)
You can't keep Jasprit Bumrah out of the wickets for long 🙌 pic.twitter.com/9mdoi4zCer
Carse showed his batting ability in the first innings, but many better players would have fallen to a Bumrah yorker like this.
FoW: 185-0 (over 57.3)
Jasprit Bumrah has another after slicing through Chris Woakes' defence! 🏰 pic.twitter.com/wyLuJJTXEa
Woakes was England’s last hope of sneaking past 200, but he was baffled by Bumrah’s skill, abeit off his inside edge.
FoW: 192 all out (over 62.1)
Washington Sundar has his fourth for the innings and England will defend 192 at Lord's 🎯 pic.twitter.com/CcTtg7YFGf
Probably did well to get out there at all. Bashir became the third England right-hander bowled by Washington.
