“Definitely (Sunil) Gavaskar, Kapil (Dev), Sachin (Tendulkar), and Virat (Kohli) definitely for being. I am looking at the most influential players of that era. MS will come in, and then Bumrah is still here. Bumrah is young; Bumrah has still got cricket,” said Shastri
“Gavaskar, I would say batting. Kapil, wow, a fabulous cricketer, and I would put the entire package number one, would be Tendulkar because of the expectations and because of longevity, for having played 24 years in the game,” he added
Gavaskar, known as ‘Little Master’, goes down as one of the players having the finest batsmanship. The former right-handed batsman also holds the record of becoming the first player to complete 10,000 runs in the traditional format of the game
Dev, on the other hand, is hailed among the top all-rounders to have ever played the sport. Under his captaincy, Team India won their first-ever World Cup in 1983
Tendulkar, a batsman, who made the sport famous and is the owner of several international records, which to date are untouched. One of Tendulkar’s most historic records is of the 100 international centuries. No other batsman has come even close to breaking this record
Virat Kohli, a superstar of the game, has been known for his elegance in batting. He is also the third-highest run-scorer in international cricket and is one of the world’s most prolific batsmen across all formats of the game
Dhoni took the cricketing world by storm when he showcased his skills, donning the ‘Big Gloves’. With immense power and fierce speed while running between the wickets, Dhoni was known to smash huge maximums and finish games with ease
