Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli’s health condition has taken a turn for the worse after yet another setback. The 52-year-old was admitted to Pragati Hospital in Thane, and doctors are currently monitoring his deteriorating condition.
According to a report by India TV, Kambli was admitted late on Saturday night. Although the cricketer is currently stable, Kambli is still deemed to be in a critical condition, and not out of danger.
The former batter was recently seen in a public event at Ramakant Archrekar’s memorial, where his childhood friend, and legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was also present. His mannerisms and slurring speech raised alarm bells among fans, and some of his former teammates.
A similar state was observed when he appeared on Vickey Lalwani’s YouTube channel for an interview.
Several prominent names in Indian cricket, including former captains like Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, have spoken about offering their assistance, financial or otherwise for Kambli’s recovery.
Vinod Kambli had recently mentioned that he is willing to go into rehab, expressed his gratitude for all of the encouragement from his well-wishers, and vowed to bounce back.
Kambli’s worsening health issues have been well-documented, which includes footage of him where he is unable to walk. The former player had to be carried by on-lookers, and even during the Archrekar memorial, he was seated in a wheelchair.
Vinod Kambli started his academy in 2009, and also held a position in Tendulkar Middlesex Academy for four years before his health situation worsened. He had suffered a heart attack in 2013, and had undergone an angioplasty to address the issue.
