KL Rahul started off his India tour of England with innings of 42 and 137 at Headingley. As India’s most experienced batter in the series, there was high expectations from Rahul.
While he impressed with the bat in the first Test, questions have now been raised if he can continue the same form for the remainder of the five-match series.

As India heads to Edgbaston for the second Test, Sanjay Manjrekar is asking the same question to Rahul.
Manjrekar was speaking in the build-up to the second Test match starting on Wednesday, July 2. India will be desperately to level the series before their grasp of the series slips away.
After praising Rishabh Pant for his performances in Tests, he also urged Rahul to continue his good form and not be a one-Test performer.
“I think he [Rishabh Pant] will carry on because it seems like he enjoys batting in Test cricket. Any batter who gets two hundreds in a single Test, it takes a lot out of you mentally but I see him continuing this form,” Manjrekar said.

As for Rahul, he did not sound very confident and warned him not to become a “one-hundred wonder”.
“There is another senior batter who now has no choice but to carry his form through the series. Indian cricket needs him badly, and KL Rahul cannot be a one-hundred wonder or a one-Test-match performer,” he emphasized.
This is likely in reference to the Indian batter’s failures during the Australia tour in 2024. After scoring a crucial 84 in the first Test at Perth, he followed that up with just one more fifty-plus score in the next eight innings.

Having scored a century in the first Test at Headingley, Manjrekar hoped Rahul would back it up with the same consistency for the remainder of the England Test series — and not see a drop in performance from here on.
