Welcome to Sportstar’s LIVE coverage of Day 4 of the second unofficial Test match between India A and England Lions being played in Northampton.
For a moment, it seems like India A has declared it’s innings. The players start walking towards the dugout. It’s upon the arrival of the subs with the drinks that the break in play is confirmed.
FIFTY for Tanush Kotian! Ben McKinney tries to surprise him with a bouncer, but Kotian gets on his toes and opens his bat face to guide this through third man. There’s no fielder in the deep which allows him the boundary.
Haines bowls a wayward delivery going down leg to start this over, too far for even James Rew to cut that off, runs away for FOUR byes. A single apiece for Kotian and Kamboj in that over.
England Lions has deployed its part-time pacer Tom Haines from one end now. Anshul Kamboj pummeled him for FOUR in his first over, though he comes back and bowls a three-run over after that.
England Lions in anticipation of a declaration now. No sight of India A’s dressing to gauge what’s going on there.
An expensive over from Hill. He tries a bumper against Anshul but sends it too high and away for FIVE WIDES.
Anshul is then able to pick two boundaries in the over, through covers and mid off. That over costs 15 runs.
Kotain attacks Farhan. Goes inside out over covers, ends up getting it over mid off for FOUR. Farhan then strays wide of off, cut away through backward point for another boundary.
India A is now ahead by 305 runs.
Farhan Ahmed continues from the other end. A tidy over, does not concede a six this time. Kotian picks a couple with a punch through point off his back foot. Two more singles complete the over.
Not too much purchase off the surface here. That’s primarily the reason the 17-year-old Farhan has struggled to control the flow of runs today.
Anshul Kamboj off the mark with a FOUR! An over-pitched delivery from Hill, Kamboj meets it with a vertical bat and on-drives to the fence.
All speculation about India A declaring have been ended as Anshul Kamboj and Tanush Kotian walk out to bat.
Well we were slated for a 1:50 PM local time start, but the players are yet to make their way to the centre. A bit of a prolonged lunch maybe given the extended morning session.
But we finally have the umpires make their way.
A wicket brings the session to an end. It’s Hill again who castles Shardul, who was looking for a heave down the ground, misses the line and the late swing ensures the ball hits the stumps.
    Shardul Thakur b Hill 34 (47)
India A’s lead is touching 300, and with about 69 overs left in the day, we might have seen the last of India’s batters today.
India A going for the runs now. Kotian charges down to Farhan, gets to the pitch and tonks this over long on for SIX. That’s the fourth six hit against Farhan now.
GONE! A Jaffa from George Hill! Pitches at a length and shapes into Nitish, breaches his gate and crashes into the stumps, sending it away for a cartwheel. That’s the second wicket for Hill.
    Nitish Kumar Reddy b Hill 42 (78)
Tanush Kotian gets a single with a cover drive to get off the mark.
Shardul sees his partner go after spin and joins in. Farhan errs too by bowling right into the slot for the right-hander. Shardul clears his front foot out of the way and gives two heaves down the ground over long off successive deliveries. He’s on 27 off 27 now.
SIX! Nitish gets down on one knee and slog sweeps Farhan Ahmed over cow corner. That’s the first maximum of India A’s innings. Nitish moves to 34 with that. There’s a bit of delay as the ball is lost in the stands and the umpires call for a replacement.
Another five runs for Nitish. He clips through midwicket and sets off for a single, and the fielder, in trying to make a direct hit, sends it for FOUR overthrows.
A big over, 12 come off it.
Shardul Thakur sticks to his flamboyance! Jack goes slightly full to him and is driven down the ground through the air.
Shardul picks another FOUR with a cut through backward point.
WICKET! Jurel does not get his fourth straight fifty. Jack is the bowler who removes him, a gentle nip away from the right hander as he comes forward with his press, takes his outside edge to the keeper.
    Dhruv Jurel c Rew b Jack 28 (51)
Shardul Thakur is the new batter
A drab passage of play is broken by a cracking cover drive from Jurel off Josh Tongue. That boundary means the last five overs have yielded 10 runs for India A.
Reddy was dropped in the previous over by Tom Haines off Ed Jack’s bowling.
Another FOUR for Nitish. Extra bounce for Hill from a good length, but Reddy plays it close to his body, opens the bat face to guide this wide of the cordon.
A lucky FOUR for Nitish! Hill floats this delivery outside off, Nitish is in two minds, goes for a shot and then shoulders arms at the last moment, the ball takes the face of the bat and dies down past second slip. He plays that with soft hands and that saves him.
India A’s lead is now past 200!
Jurel picks the first FOUR of the morning. A full delivery from Woakes, fires it into the pads, Jurel waits for it and clips this away to the left of short midwicket.
He gets another boundary on the fourth ball, Woakes goes short this time and Jurel short-arm jabs.
Quite overcast at the County Ground. Nitish continues in the same tone he ended on on day three, defending safely. All four runs off the bat have gone to Dhruv Jurel in the first two overs.

The second Test is perfectly poised ahead of fourth day’s play. India A leads by 184 runs and has six wickets in hand. This would encourage it to go for another 100-120 runs and put England Lions in to bat for a session-and-a-half.
