The Indian bowling effort was a mixed bag. They were good in patches but let down by some sloppy fielding and extra runs conceded. Sree Charani was the pick of the bowlers, both excellent and economical, claiming two wickets, with Renuka Singh Thakur also keeping things tight but staying wicketless. Deepti Sharma picked up two wickets in her final over. Now, the task is clear for the India Women. They possess the batting firepower to chase this down, but they will need a disciplined and sustained effort with the bat. An exciting chase is on the cards!
Phoebe Litchfield is in for a chat. Shares that it is awesome to get that personal milestone but is more happy to contribute to the team’s cause. Mentions that she looked to assess the wicket early on and take down the spinners when they bowled in her areas.
India Women deserve credit for pulling things back well after that onslaught. While Ellyse Perry continued, she was forced to slow down as wickets tumbled at the other end. Perry’s solid knock ended in the 40th over for 77. Just when India thought they had restricted them, Ashleigh Gardner stepped up, launching a powerful counter-attack to smash a quickfire 63, ensuring the Aussies reached that massive score.
Australia Women have been bowled out, but they finish with a mammoth total of 338 on the board! It started with an early breakthrough for India, as Kranti Goud removed the dangerous Alyssa Healy. However, the formidable partnership between Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry then put the Indian bowlers to the sword. They unleashed a flurry of boundaries, stitching together a mammoth stand of 155 runs from just 133 balls. Litchfield was absolutely sensational, departing only in the 28th over after a blistering 119 runs!
49.5: Deepti Sharma to Kim Garth, OUT! GARTH IS RUN OUT! That ends the Australian innings! Low full toss, on off, Kim Garth shimmies down the track and hits it in front of long off. A bit of yes and no between the batters for the second but they eventually decide to go through. Amanjot Kaur gets to the ball and releases the throw on the full towards the keeper. Richa Ghosh collects cleanly and breaks the stumps to catch Garth short of her crease.
49.4: Deepti Sharma to Megan Schutt, Direct hit! Back to around the wicket, this is floated up, fuller and on off. Megan Schutt advances and ends up bunting it beside the strip on the leg side. The batters set off for the run and Deepti is quick to get to the ball. Sharma hits the stumps at the bowling end but Schutt is home.
Megan Schutt walks in to face the hat-trick ball.
49.3: Deepti Sharma to Sophie Molineux, OUT! CASTLED! Two in two for Deepti Sharma! Switches to over the wicket for the left-hander and fires it in, full and on leg. Sophie Molineux walks across her stumps to access the area behind square on the leg side. She fails to connect and the ball clatters into the leg stump.
    Sophie Molineux walks in.
49.2: Deepti Sharma to Alana King, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! India get the review right! From around the wicket, this slides across the right-hander, full in length. Alana King stays low and reaches out to swipe it away on the leg side. The ball sneaks under the blade and it is taken by the keeper, Richa Ghosh. Deepti goes up in an appeal but the finger stays down. Harmanpreet Kaur sends it upstairs and the UltraEdge shows a spike when the ball is under the bat. The on-field decision is overturned.
49.1: Deepti Sharma to Kim Garth, Very full, on middle, Kim Garth digs it out in front of cover and takes the single.
48.6: Radha Yadav to Alana King, FOUR! Fine shot! Tossed up, on a nagging length, on off, Alana King advances and smacks it to the left of long off for a boundary.
48.5: Radha Yadav to Alana King, Short again, on off, Alana punches it to cover-point.
48.4: Radha Yadav to Alana King, Short and on off, Alana King cuts it to point.
48.3: Radha Yadav to Ashleigh Gardner, OUT! GARDNER IS RUN OUT! Very full, on middle. Ashleigh Gardner gets her bat down and squeezes it out in front of square leg. Gardner sets off for a single and keeps running, while Garth hesitates and sends her partner back. Kranti Gaud picks it up and lobs it towards the keeper. Both batters are left stranded and Richa Ghosh does the rest. Gardner is adjudged to be out since she had not crossed her partner. Maybe Garth could have sacrificed herself there. Alana King walks in to bat next.
48.2: Radha Yadav to Ashleigh Gardner, SIX! A flat hit but the result is the same! This is fired in by Radha, fuller and on middle. Ashleigh Gardner still manages to get under the ball and clobbers it to the left of deep mid-wicket for a flat six.
48.1: Radha Yadav to Ashleigh Gardner, SIX! That has gone many a mile! Floated up, on middle. Ashleigh Gardner shimmies down the track and smokes it way over deep mid-wicket for a six.
47.6: Deepti Sharma to Ashleigh Gardner, Low full toss, on leg, Gardner paddles it to short fine leg and takes a single.
47.5: Deepti Sharma to Ashleigh Gardner, FIFTY FOR GARDNER! A vital knock from the all-rounder that has kept Australia’s innings on track. She will be keen to deliver the final flourish here. Low full toss, on middle and leg, Ashleigh Gardner swats it away to the right of long on for a couple of runs.
47.4: Deepti Sharma to Ashleigh Gardner, Back to around the wicket, in the blockhole, around leg. Ashleigh Gardner backs away to go through the off side but misses.
