India vs England 4th Test 2025, Live Score: KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal battled hard in the first session. But India lost Rahul’s wicket after the break and a good partnership came to an end, but they got the start they needed. Now it’s up to the incoming batters to play well.

41.2: Jofra Archer to Shubman Gill, 1 run.
41.1: Jofra Archer to Shubman Gill, A full toss, outside off, probably surprised even Gill, as he just patted it towards cover.
40.6: Liam Dawson to Sai Sudharsan, Fired in at the stumps, at 97 kph and Sai simply blocks it off yet again. Just a single and a big wicket off that over for Dawson.
40.5: Liam Dawson to Sai Sudharsan, Relatively full again and just outside off, Sudharsan strides across to make another block.
40.4: Liam Dawson to Sai Sudharsan, Good energy going into the ball as this is bowled a bit fuller and around off, Sudharsan lunges and blocks it down the line.
40.3: Liam Dawson to Sai Sudharsan, Full, around off, Sai Sudharsan goes back to defend but gets a thick inside edge onto his pads.
40.2: Liam Dawson to Shubman Gill, Off the mark first ball. Outside off, Gill pushes it through point for a single.
Skipper Shubman Gill walks in next, at number 4, replacing Yashasvi Jaiswal. Massive boos around the ground as Gill strides out.
40.1: Liam Dawson to Yashasvi Jaiswal, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! A left-arm spinner dismisses a left-arm batter and after 8 years, Liam Dawson takes a wicket in a Test match! He does a celebratory run around the ground as Old Trafford is beside itself. After all the loud talks to give Dawson a chance amidst England’s depleting spin stocks, he has finally got a chance and struck on his 7th delivery on return. Coming to the delivery, his guile has helped him take this wicket. It is a straight delivery, landing just around the fuller length, outside off. Yashasvi Jaiswal got a full stride to try and meet the ball, perhaps playing for the turn, but the ball went on with the arm, took the outside edge and got itself lodged safely into the hands of Harry Brook at first slip. Jaiswal will be disappointed. Not because he missed out on a ton, but because it was not a wicket-taking delivery. Could he have gone with softer hands? Has to depart for 58 and from 94/0, India are now 120/2.
Gill’s complaint taken seriously? Jokes apart, it does seem that something has been discussed over the sledging episode in the third Test. Despite India batting so well and so patiently, there has been absolutely no instance of sledging. Good sportsmanship.
39.6: Jofra Archer to Sai Sudharsan, A bumper to end the over and a maiden for Jofra Archer. Dug in short at 133 kph and right over middle, Sudharsan moves his head away from the line of the ball by leaning back yet again.
39.5: Jofra Archer to Sai Sudharsan, Good length on the pads, turned away to mid-wicket for another dot ball.
39.4: Jofra Archer to Sai Sudharsan, A bumper now, over off stump and angling in towards the batter, Sudharsan leans back to sway away from the line of the ball.
39.3: Jofra Archer to Sai Sudharsan, Hard length again and around off, tapped straight down to point and again, Sudharsan wants a single but Jaiswal isn’t interested.
39.2: Jofra Archer to Sai Sudharsan, No run there! Hard length over off, cutting back in. Sai stays back and dabs it into the off side and walks down the pitch for a single but Jaiswal sends him back quickly. Ben Stokes was quick to attack the ball, haring in from covers.
39.1: Jofra Archer to Sai Sudharsan, Relatively full and straight, 139 kph, Sudharsan leans on and defends it off.
DRINKS BREAK. Are there two Ravindra Jadejas playing in this game? How quick was that last over from Dawson? After yet another slap from the ICC for poor over rate in the previous Test, Dawson might just help England improve in that department at least. Though ideally, it would be better if he brings his domestic experience into play and helps them in the wickets’ department. Having said that, the bowling from the hosts has been improved post Lunch and that has resulted in Rahul’s wicket. Contrary to what we have seen in the series so far, the older and softer ball has actually swung more, meaning even after close to 40 overs, there is something for the seamers in this pitch. The scorecard says 42/1 in 13 overs post Lunch but that’s because the lines have gotten more fuller and as a result, while they have produced a wicket, runs have come quickly too. Will be interesting to see for how long does this old ball swing and once it stops swinging, what will be England’s tactic. Not too many short balls post Lunch. India, on the other hand, continue to be determined and have not thrown it away. The openers have laid the platform for another big first innings total.
38.6: Liam Dawson to Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nagging length on off and middle, Jaiswal camps on the back foot and keeps it out.
38.5: Liam Dawson to Sai Sudharsan, Full and straight, driven through mid on by Sudharsan for a single.
38.4: Liam Dawson to Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dawson throws the ball up full and wide outside off, inviting the big shot. Jaiswal goes after it but hammers it along the ground through covers for a single.
