India vs England 4th Test 2025, Live Score: Sai Sudharsan and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored half-centuries as India ended Day 1 on 264/4. The Shubman Gill-led side suffered a huge blow after Pant was retired hurt after taking a blow on his foot. A medical update on Pant is pending, but it looks very unlikely he will bat in the first innings.

264/4 or 264/5? As we type, Rishabh Pant is being taken for scans on his right foot, which had swelled to a significant degree. With Washington Sundar still to bat, highly unlikely that India will rush Pant to come out to bat. He might still come out and play with an injured foot, but only if the need arises. Without a doubt, England will take the second new ball the first thing in the morning. The first hour will be very crucial, as with the pitch already showing signs of inconsistent bounce, batting is only going to get tougher. Despite batting well, none of the top three could go on and get a big score. Jaiswal and Sudharsan scored half centuries but despite being set, there is that one ball which has your name on it. Whoever wins the first session, might dictate terms in this match. If India bat the session out, they are likely to get to 350 which will look like 450 on this deck. If England manage to win the session, they might see the score being kept to 325 or less. Either ways, expect thrilling action coming your way. The first ball on Day 2 is scheduled to be bowled at 3.30 pm IST (1000 GMT) on Thursday, 24th July, 2025, but our buildup will begin a lot sooner. So do join us early. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
A disappointing day for England. They might call themselves unlucky with the new ball, as the ball beat the bat numerous times and the edges, when generated, did not carry to the fielders. On another day, Yashasvi Jaiswal would have been dismissed in the first over of the day. But as it panned out, luck favoured the tourists and then, the hosts ran out of patience, bowling too short and wide and literally wasting the new ball. The bowlers tried hard but only Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes looked threatening. Archer was unlucky to be wicketless while Stokes kept coming in at the Indian batters keeping his team in the hunt. In terms of spin options, Liam Dawson held up one end superbly with some accurate bowling, also accounting for the wicket of Jaiswal.
A day of 3 sessions and India take the honours 2-1. After being put into bat under testing conditions, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal batted with supreme grit to see off the entire morning session, unseparated with the partnership score of 78. Then came England’s counter-punching act, as they reduced the visitors from 94/0 to 140/3, breaking through that top order. They could have had another, but Jamie Smith put down a fairly simple chance of Sai Sudharsan on 20, with the team score at that stage being 139/2. In the final session, India managed to get their noses back in front, through the 72-run stand between Sudharsan and Rishabh Pant, before a freak injury saw the latter walking off retired hurt. Stokes eventually managed to dismiss Sudharsan for 61 but not before the damage had been done. Post that, Jadeja and Shardul ensured that there was no collapse.
Well, Stokes has had enough. It seems like he wanted to take the second new ball but the umpires feel that the light has become very poor and they take the players off the field. In a normal scenario, this would have been play delayed due to bad light but because we are past the official Stumps time, the players won’t come back out. STUMPS ON DAY 1, INDIA 264/4!
