India vs England LIVE Score: Shreyas Iyer goes back after audacious 59-run knock – Firstpost

India vs England 1st ODI Live Cricket Score: England have been bowled out for 248 runs after winning the toss and electing to bat first against India in Nagpur. Captain Jos Buttler (52) top-scored for his side with Jacob Bethell (51) also contributing some important runs. For India, Harshit Rana and Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets under their belts. Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, and Axar Patel took one wicket each. Hardik Pandya remained wicketless. Our blog will bring you all the live scores and latest updates from the 1st India vs England ODI.
Here’s how Delhi and Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Harshit Rana has performed with the ball on debut in each of the three international formats, the latest of which has come in the first ODI against England in Nagpur:
Test (vs Australia in Perth, November 22-25): 3/48 and 1/69
T20I (vs England in Pune, 31 January): 3/33
ODI (vs England in Nagpur, 6 February): 3/53
Skipper Jos Buttler gets on the back-foot and punches a short, wide ball from Kuldeep Yadav through backward point to collect England’s first boundary in nearly eight overs. He helps himself to another boundary three balls later, this time pulling a short delivery drifting down leg towards the backward square leg fence.
Buttler then moves into the 30s with whip through midwicket off a full delivery from Jadeja that goes all the way to the boundary in the following over. The captain’s doing his bit to ensure the Indian spinners aren’t dictating terms at the moment. ENG 133/4 in 23
Ravindra Jadeja’s pace variations are what make him so unpredictable from the batter’s perspective, and it is what leads to Joe Root’s dismissal in the third ball of the 19th over, with a quicker ball from the left-arm finger spinner holding its line, beating Root’s inside edge and hitting him on the back pad bang in front of middle. Root goes for the review, and the ball is shown to be clipping the top of the middle and leg, enough for the verdict to read ‘Umpire’s Call’.
From 75/0, England suddenly find themselves in a precarious position at 111/4.
The flurry of wickets certainly has slowed England down with captain Jos Buttler and former skipper Joe Root, who is playing his first white-ball appearance since the 2023 ICC World Cup, batting cautiously at the moment, looking to build a partnership through the middle overs.
Hardik Pandya, meanwhile, is in the middle of an economical spell, having conceded just 8 runs in three overs including a maiden right after the end of the first powerplay, with the seam-bowling all-rounder primarily bowling good length or short balls. Kuldeep Yadav is introduced in the 14th over, and Buttler greets him with a reverse paddle for a four. Drinks brought to the field at the end of the 14th over. ENG 94/3 after 14
Harshit Rana was replaced by Axar Patel after leaking 26 runs in the sixth over, his ODI debut having been far from ideal up until that point. India captain Rohit, however, decides to bring him back after Axar goes for 15 in his first over, including three boundaries.
Rana, who enjoyed a superb Test debut against Australia in Perth, grabs his maiden ODI wicket in his fourth over as Yashasvi Jaiswal grabs a screamer at midwicket while running towards the boundary, resulting in Ben Duckett departing for 32 thanks to a miscued pull. Three balls later, Harry Brook is strangled down the leg side, and is caught-behind for a three-ball duck. ENG 77/3 after 10
Ben Duckett and Phil Salt had collected 17 runs in the first four overs, with Mohammed Shami bowling four consecutive dots in the fifth. Just when the Indian pacers were starting to build some pressure, Duckett responded with back-to-back fours.
That is followed by Phil Salt smashing Harshit Rana for 26 runs in the sixth over – smashing three sixes and two fours – bringing up the fifty partnership in the process. ENG 52/0 after 6
It’s been a tough start to 2025 for Virat Kohli.

    Knee in February.
Not often you see Kohli missing any competitive cricket because of fitness issues. But here we are.
Hopefully, he’ll be fit for Cuttack 🙌 #IndvEng
We will have the confirmation soon but the TV visuals have confirmed that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Harshit Rana are set for their ODI debuts.

“In the absence of Bumrah, the bowling will have to depend on other aspects, maybe a Kuldeep Yadav doing a lot of damage in the middle overs,” Bangar said on Star Sports. “Or for that matter, I also see that Varun Chakravarthy has been included.
“So, in case Bumrah is unavailable, then they may want to push the teams back through the middle overs so that in the last 10 overs, they may not have to face situations wherein the team would generally be dependent on Bumrah sort of a situation. Jasprit Bumrah’s absence cannot be filled by any bowler at the moment.”
I am feeling good. I will go to all three ODI matches of the series. I think Virat Kohli will hit a century today. I am a big fan of (Virat) Kohli,” he said.

IND vs ENG 1st ODI LIVE Score: The India-England three-match ODI series starts on Thursday (6 February) with the first ODI at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur. The Indian cricket team is coming into the contest after a 4-1 win over England in the T20I series and will be gunning for another impressive performance against England.
The ODI series also serves as the final preparation opportunity for the Indian cricket team ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 and the Men in Blue will be looking to sort out their final playing XI.
Talking about specifics. India captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be in focus after their recent struggle to score runs in international cricket. With a return to ODIs, both Kohli and Rohit will aim to discover their form in the series against England.
The Vidharbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium has an average first-innings score of 288 but this is the first ODI at the venue in six years. They will be using a new pitch reportedly which means it will offer pace and bounce and 280-300 in first innings will be a good score.
