    Divyanshi Bhowmick wins gold in U-15 category at Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships
    India’s Divyanshi Bhowmick won the gold medal in the under-15 girls’ singles category at the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Tuesday.
    Divyanshi took down China’s Zhu Qihui 4-2 (13-11, 11-8, 8-11, 12-10, 9-11, 11-8) in the summit clash.

    Ankur Bhattacharjee and Taneesha Kotecha won a bronze medal in the under-19 mixed doubles event as a losing semifinalist. The Indian pair went down 3-2 (11-9, 8-11, 11-7, 3-11, 11-3) to South Korea’s Kim Gaon and Park Gahyeon in the final-four fixture.
    India also picked up a bronze in the under-19 boys’ team event. The side, comprising Ankur, P. Abhinandh and Priyanuj Bhattacharyya, suffered a 3-2 defeat against South Korea in the semifinals.
    In under-15 boys’s team event, Indian team of Sahil Rawat, Ritvik Gupta and Aditya Das finished with a silver after a 3-0 loss to China in the final.

    Hockey India Announces India A Men’s Squad for Europe Tour
    Hockey India, on Tuesday, announced the India A Men’s Hockey Team squad for its upcoming tour of Europe, scheduled to take place from 8th to 20th July 2025. 
    The India A team will play two matches each against Ireland, France, and the Netherlands, along with one match each against England and Belgium. 
    The team will be captained by Sanjay, while Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh will be his deputy. Speaking about the tour, Shivendra Singh said, “This tour is an important platform for our players to experience the tempo, structure, and intensity of European hockey. We have selected a squad that balances potential and experience, and I am confident this tour will be immensely beneficial in grooming the next batch of international players for India.”

    Sharma enters main draw at Canada Open
    Indian shuttler Ira Sharma entered the women’s singles main draw but it was curtains for Chirag Sen in men’s singles qualifiers at the USD 240,000 Canada Open Super 300 tournament in Calgary on Tuesday.
    Sharma beat Miranda Wilson of Germany 21-9, 21-13 in the women’s singles qualifiers at the Markham Pan Am Centre.
    She will now face Bulgaria’s Kaloyana Nalbantova in the main draw.
    However, Chirag, who won the national championships in 2023, lost 14-21, 10-21 to Malaysia’s Eogene Ewe in the qualifiers.
    In women’s singles main draw, Shriyanshi Valishetty and Tanya Hemanth will represent the country.
    Star shuttler Kidambi Srikanth, US Open winner Ayush Shetty, Priyanshu Rajawat and S Sankar Subramanian are in fray in men’s singles main draw.

    Railways clinch team title as top stars Nitu, Lovlina shine at Elite tournament
    Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) emerged as the top-performing unit by grabbing nine medals, including three gold, as the Elite Women’s Boxing Tournament concluded here on Tuesday.
    The final day was marked by standout performances from World and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Nitu Ghanghas (Haryana), Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain (TOPS), and world champion Saweety Boora (SAI NCOE), who secured titles in their respective weight categories.
    The SAI NCOE combined team secured seven medals, including two gold, while the TOPS Core & Development squad claimed three gold, completing the podium.
    Railways’ gold medallists included Babirojsana Chanu (57kg), who registered a dominant 5:0 win over Kamaljeet Kaur of All India Police, Prachi (60kg), and Jyoti (51kg), who was awarded the win after Telangana’s Nikhat Zareen withdrew due to injury.
    RSPB also claimed three silver medals and three bronze across weight categories.
    World champion Nitu won the 48kg final with a 4:1 split verdict over Chanchal (SAI N), while Saweety overcame Railways’ Alfiya with a dominant 5:0 unanimous victory.
    Lashu Yadav’s withdrawal awarded Lovlina a walkover win, while Preeti won the gold medal in the 54kg division.
    “Winning gold at the Elite Women’s Boxing Tournament is the perfect start to my preparations before I head overseas to begin the next phase of my training for the Women’s World Boxing Championships in September. The competition here was intense and facing such high-caliber opponents has only strengthened my resolve,” said Lovlina.
    The remaining gold medals were split between SAI NCOE, TOPS, and state units. Former Youth world champion Ankushita Boro (65kg) also secured a top-podium finish with a battling 3:2 win over Railways’ Shashi.
    SAI NCOE’s Ritika (80+kg) and Delhi’s Shivani (70kg) finished with a gold each.
    The gold and silver medallists from the tournament will now earn the opportunity to join the national camp in Patiala.

    World Boxing Cup: Sakshi, Jaismine, Lakshya Chahar advance
    Indian pugilists Sakshi, Lakshya Chahar, and Jaismine advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Boxing Cup after registering preliminary victories at the Beeline Arena here on Tuesday.
    In the women’s 54kg category, Sakshi put on a composed display to defeat England’s Charley Davison with a unanimous 5:0 decision in her pre-quarterfinal bout.
    Jaismine followed with a confident showing of her own in the women’s 57kg division, overcoming Azerbaijan’s Aynur Mikayilova by the same margin to seal her place in the last eight.
    Lakshya delivered a gritty performance in the men’s 80kg category, moving past Bulgaria’s William Cholov 4:1 in a split verdict.
    Manish Rathore, however, exited the competition after a closely-contested bout against Rui Yamaguchi of Japan in the men’s 55kg category.
    Sakshi, Lakshya, and Jaismine now join Sachin Siwach, Hitesh Gulia, Muskan, Minakshi, and Sanju in the next round, underlining India’s strong start to the tournament in Astana.

    Wild card Manas Dhamne saved two match points on his serve in the twelfth game of the decider to eke out a 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(3) victory over Christoph Negritu of Germany in the first round of the €91,250 Challenger tennis tournament in Brasov, Romania, on Tuesday.
