Indians with fastest centuries in List A cricket (by balls) – NewsBytes

The opening day of the 2025/26 Vijay Hazare Trophy saw quite a few record-shattering performances. Three of the four fastest centuries across List A cricket were recorded on December 24, 2025. Bihar’s Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Sakibul Gani, as well as Ishan Kishan, entered record books with whirlwind knocks. Have a look at the Indians with the fastest List A tons (by balls).

Bihar captain Sakibul Gani has created history by scoring the fastest List A century by an Indian. He hammered a 32-ball century against Arunachal Pradesh in Bihar’s opening VHT match. The record-breaking match, played at JSCA Oval Ground in Ranchi, saw Bihar post a mammoth total of 574/6, the highest List A total. Gani remained unbeaten at 128 off just 40 balls.

On the same day, Jharkhand skipper Ishan Kishan scored a blistering 33-ball century against Karnataka at Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad. It became the second-fastest List A hundred by an Indian cricketer. His explosive knock helped Jharkhand post a mammoth total of 412/8 in their allotted 50 overs. Batting at No. 6, Ishan hit a whopping 14 sixes during his 39-ball 125.

In Ahmedabad, Ishan surpassed Punjab’s Anmolpreet Singh, who hammered a ton off 35 balls against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2024/25 season. He slammed an unbeaten 115 (45), helping his side chase down 165 in 12.5 overs. His knock had 12 fours and 9 sixes.

The mayhem on December 24 was initiated by 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored 190 (84) against Arunachal Pradesh. He hammered a 36-ball century before ending up with 16 fours and 15 sixes. The 14-year-old raced to his 150 off just 59 balls, surpassing AB De Villiers‘s record of 64 balls. Suryavanshi also became the youngest player with a century in men’s List A cricket.
