TUPPER LAKE — After a two-week-long spring break, the Tupper Lake baseball team returned to its typical dominating form on Monday, topping the Parishville-Hopkinton Panthers 10-0 in five innings.
It’s the Lumberjacks’ 20th straight victory over a Section X East Division opponent, dating back to May 2023. But despite recording double-digit runs, Tupper Lake’s head coach, Dan Brown, said the team is yearning for more offense.
“I think we’ve developed such high expectations over the last five years about what we’re going to do in Tupper Lake with baseball that you come in every game and you’re like ‘I want 15 runs, I want 20 runs,’” he said. “You never have enough.”
The Lumberjacks scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-0 lead off a sacrifice fly from Luka Dukett, before Charlie Skiff hit a two-run RBI single later in that inning. Tupper Lake added to its lead with three runs in the second inning, before tacking on four more in the fourth and fifth innings.
Senior Karter Kenniston led the way with a pair of triples in the Lumberjacks’ seven-hit outing. Skiff, Wyatt Godin, Cooper Cuttaia, Kyler McClain and Liam McClain each had one hit — all of which were singles. Brown thought his team played “good fundamental baseball.”

“We made the outs, we made great contact and there was a lot of good baserunning that happened without any prompting from the coaching staff,” he said, “The kids just knew how to react and where to go.
“Defensively, we made plays that haven’t made in … ever,” Brown added. “Cooper Cuttaia with that diving catch in foul territory. Lucas Stevens (had) a great running catch in right field, Luka Dukett had a great play at third base. We had a lot of great, solid defense.”
Kenniston, the team’s ace, pitched four solid innings, striking out six batters and allowing just three hits. Dukett closed the game with one strikeout.
“Kenniston wasn’t overly pleased with his performance on the mound, but he got a shutout and did his job” Brown said. “Luka Dukett comes in and gets two outs on seven pitches as a freshman against a good-hitting team in our division.”
Parishville-Hopkinton’s pitcher Gage Caskinett recorded five strikeouts, while Wade Caskinett had one. The Panthers had three hits as Wade Caskinett, Oliver White and Jude TenEyck each singled once.
