    MANKATO – The Martin County West Mavericks and Granada-Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars opened their track and field season in Mankato Monday night.
    For the boys, River Valley finished first with 111 points, while Loyola/Cleveland took second (104), Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop took third (78),Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin took fourth (57), Wabasso and Lester Prairie tied for fifth (56) and GHEC/T/ML took seventh (35).
    On the girls side, River Valley took first with 181 points, while Loyola/Cleveland took second (98), GFW took third (62), Wabasso took fourth (53), MCW/BO took sixth (34), while GHEC/T/ML took seventh (15).
    In the boys 55-meter dash Mavericks’ Berent Kosbab took first with a time of 6.99, while Jaguars’ Jackson Madsen finished second with a time of 7 seconds. Also, from the Jaguars, Bowan Sill took sixth place with a time of 7.29.
    Ava Thate of MCW finished second in the girls 55-meter dash with a time of 7.97, while Avery Sanders of the Mavericks took eighth with a time of 8.35.
    The boys 1,500-meter race ended with MCW’s Dominic Dietz in ninth place after running a 5:36.91. Conrad Gwin finished 13th with a time of 6:06.42. Tim Foster of the Jaguars’ finished 14th with a time of 6:32.27.
    Evelynn Christenson of the Mavericks took third in the girls 1,500-meter race with a time of 5:44.93, while Katelynn Kennedy finished seventh with a time of 6:28.97.
    Vaughn Thompson of the Jaguars’ finished fourth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.92.
    The team of Lixon Forsberg, Mason Menssen, Lucas Larson and Kale Larson finished fifth in the 4×200 relay, running a 1:46.70, while the Jaguars’ team of Jackson Madsen, Jacob Mattson, Vaughn Thompson, and Bowin Sill finished sixth with a time of 1:46.77.
    The girls 4×200 relay finished with the Mavericks team of Ava Thate, Avery Sanders, Reese Peters, and Peyton Bryant in third with a time of 2:08.19, while the Jaguars’ team of Kayla Mattson, Norah Chase, Ceci Nowicki, and Ashley Singleton finished sixth with a time of 2:13.63.
    In the boys 4×800, the Mavericks team of Hayden O’Connor, Dominic Dietz, Marek Mulder, and Brody Cook finished sixth with a time of 10:52.2.
    The Mavericks team of Maddison Lyon, Macie Kneeland, Katelynn Kennedy, and Evelynn Christenson finished fourth in the 4×800 relay with a time of 12:42.47.
    In the girls 400-meter dash, Jaguars’ Kayla Mattson finished fifth with a time of 1:10.74, while Mavericks Callie Koerselman finished 11th, running a 1:17.27. Jaguars’ Maddison Schulenburg finished 12th with a time of 1:21.15.
    Jaguars’ Jacob Mattson finished the 400-meter dash in sixth place after running a 1:03.06, while Mavericks Hayden O’Connor finished eighth with a time of 1:04.16. Jaguars’ Jonah Moeller finished 12th after running a 1:08.68, while MCW’s Eric Perez Lopez finished 13th with a time of 1:13.46.
    MCW’s Josh Roben finished first in the boys 50-meter low hurdles with a time of 8.95, Mavericks Ava Thate finished third in the girls 50-meter low hurdles with a time of 10.48.
    In the boys 800-meter race, Elliot Reynolds of MCW finished ninth with a time of 2:48.89, while teammate Oakley North finished 11th with a time of 3:04.59. Mavericks Lincoln Kennedy finished 12th after running a 3:15.83, while Jaguars’ Mason Williams finished 13th with a time of 3:34.83.
    Inga Olson of MCW finished ninth in the girls 800-meter race with a time of 3:06.58, while Jaguars’ Phoebe Madsen took 10th, running a 3:14.75. MCW’s Braelyn Borchardt finished 12th with a time of 3:16.93.
    In the boys 3000-meter race MCW’s Marek Mulder finished fourth with a time of 12:42.91, while teammate Brody Cook took fifth after posting a time of 12:51.68. Jaguars’ Tim Foster brought home seventh with a time of 14:13.47.
    The Jaguars’ Norah Chase finished sixth in the girls high jump, clearing 3 feet, 11 inches.
    Jaguars’ Eli Jensen finished third in the boys high jump clearing 5 feet, 3 inches, while MCW’s Kale Larson took 11th jumping 4 feet 9 inches. Rex James of the Jaguars’ took 14th clearing 4 feet 9 inches, while Hayden O’Connor took 15th with a jump of 4 feet, 9 inches.
    Barret Scholl of MCW finished second in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet 1 inch, while Hank Olson took sixth with a throw of 36 feet 9 inches. Jacob Wilmes of the Mavericks finished eighth with a throw of 35 feet 5 inches, while Jaguars Bowan Sill finished 13th, throwing 31 feet, 7 inches.
    In the girls shot put the Jaguars’ Lynsie Salic finished fourth with a throw of 28 feet, 7.75 inches, while MCW’s Mylee Larson took sixth with a throw of 25 feet 10.5 inches. Madison Sokoloski of the Jaguars took 14th, throwing 20 feet and 0.5 inches, while Ava Rathman took 16th clearing 18 feet 4.5 inches.
    In the boys long jump Lixon Forsberg of MCW finished third after clearing 16 feet, 9 inches, while Vaughn Thompson of the Jaguars jumped 16 feet, 1/2 inches for seventh place. Jacob Mattson took 11th with a jump of 15 feet, 3 inches.
    Ainsley Gronewald took eighth in the girls long jump clearing 11 feet, 10 inches, while Lylah Becker took 10th with a jump of 11 feet, 8 inches.
    MCW’s Lixon Forsberg secured third in long jump with a distance of 16 feet, 9 inches, while the Jaguars’ Vaughn Thompson took seventh with a distance of 16 feet, 1/2 inches. Jacob Mattson of the Jaguars locked in 11th place with a jump of 15 feet, 3 inches.
    Lixon Forsberg brought home the gold in the boys triple jump for MCW, clearing 36 feet, 7 inches, while Hayden O’Connor took fifth with a jump of 33 feet, 5 inches. Vaughn Thompson of the Jaguars took seventh clearing 33 feet, 3 inches, while Jacob Mattson took ninth with a jump of 31 feet, 11 inches. Bentley Muller cleared 31 feet, 10 inches to secure 10th for MCW.
    Layla Johnson of the Jaguars locked in fourth place in the girls triple jump with a distance of 26 feet, 11 inches, while Lylah Becker of the Jaguars took eighth, clearing 25 feet, 9 inches. Teammate Ceci Nowicki finished ninth with a jump of 25 feet, 4 inches.
    MCW and the Jaguars’ next meet is at 4:15 p.m. at Mountain Lake on Thursday.
