Joseph wants to see WI back on top of Test cricket – Jamaica Gleaner

West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has revealed that his ultimate goal is to help the regional side return to its halcyon days where they dominated cricket at the international level.
The 28-year-old Joseph, considered by many as the team’s strike bowler, has already captured a combined 288 wickets for the West Indies in Test, One Day Internationals and T20Is since making his debut in 2016.
Joseph, who was recently named Antigua’s Male Sportsperson of the Year for 2024, said he especially wanted to see the West Indies excel in Test cricket.
The West Indies currently languish in eighth position in the ICC’s Test rankings, above only Bangladesh, Ireland, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.
“For me, I want to see West Indies cricket back where I think it belongs, being world champions.
“If you realise now, there is a Test Championship. Our Test cricket is not in the best state but if I could leave it in a better place than where I met it, then I’d be happy with what I’ve done in my career,” Joseph said while speaking on the Good Morning Jojo sports show.
