Bollywood actress Saiyami Kher reacted to India’s disappointing Test series loss against South Africa. India were beaten 2-0, and Saiyami, who is also a trained cricketer and a passionate fan of the game, said the team’s body language did not feel right.
India lost their second home Test series in less than a year as South Africa whitewashed them with a dominating 408-run victory in Guwahati.
The loss has caused a stir on social media. Former cricketer and actor Saiyami Kher also wrote on X that as a devoted cricket fan, she felt something was off in the atmosphere of the Indian team.
She said the situation reminded her of the difficult phase Indian cricket went through between 2005 and 2007.
According to her, losing a series is not the biggest issue, but the lack of unity and visible chaos within the team is more worrying.

She also spoke about India’s recent drawn series against England, saying it was not something that should have been celebrated. In her view, India had the chance to win that series and should have aimed higher.
Kher’s post reflected the concern many fans are feeling about the current direction of the team.
That being said, the series loss to South Africa adds another low in Gautam Gambhir’s career as head coach, especially in Test cricket.
Since he took over, India got whitewashed at home against New Zealand and South Africa and also lost the BGT 2024-25 series against Australia.
Many argue that his coaching style, such as backing all-rounders instead of specialist players, is not fit for the Test format.
Moreover, Gambhir’s decision to curate spin-friendly pitches despite India’s repeated collapses has put his tactical acumen under question.
However, for now, the BCCI is backing Gautam Gambhir for the role of head coach across all formats, as his contract runs through 2027.
