Kansas basketball is No. 19 in USA TODAY Sports preseason top 25 coaches poll – The Topeka Capital-Journal

LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball will enter the upcoming season as a member of USA TODAY Sports’ preseason top 25 coaches poll.
The Jayhawks are ranked No. 19 in the nation, ahead of its exhibition games and the regular season opener Nov. 3 at home against Green Bay. Coach Bill Self and company are the sixth-ranked team in the Big 12 Conference, when it comes to the programs ranked in the top 25. KU follows No. 2 Houston, No. 8 BYU, No. 11 Texas Tech, No. 13 Arizona and No. 18 Iowa State.
Kansas is coming off of a 21-13 overall season in which it only reached the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament and the round of 64 of the NCAA tournament. Across the past two seasons, the Jayhawks haven’t been able to reach the postseason success the program has become accustomed to. So, as KU searches for what helped it win a national title in 2022, there’s a lot to prove in Lawrence as this season unfolds.
Kansas will be lead by freshman guard Darryn Peterson and sophomore forward Flory Bidunga. There are transfers who’ve arrived, like senior guards Jayden Dawson, Melvin Council Jr. and Tre White, who’ll factor into the rotation as well. Don’t lose sight, though, of other players on the roster like redshirt sophomore guard Elmarko Jackson and freshman guard Kohl Rosario.
