Kids Inc. receives $2 million donation toward Rockrose Sports Park – KFDA | NewsChannel 10

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – Today Kids Inc. announced a $2 million donation to the Rockrose Sports Park campaign.
The donation comes from the Paul F. and Virginia Engler Foundation and moves the campaign significantly closer to the $30 million goal.
Kids Inc. has now raised $27 million for the sports park.
The outdoor complex will host over seven different sports and will include eight baseball and softball fields and 31 soccer fields.
“Well the gift of the Engler Foundation today got us over the hump of the $24 million challenge grant that we’ve had for all this time,” said President and CEO Jimmy Lackey. “And so, thanks to the High Plains Christian Ministries, once we hit $24 million, they had a $1.5 million grant waiting for us. So Steve wrote us a check a few weeks ago for that, and we have a $2 million check from the Engler Foundation. That just boosted us about $3.5 million down the road.”
Kids Inc. is about 90% of the way toward their fundraising goal for phase one.
Lackey says construction will begin as soon as the end of September.
