1952-2025
Kimball Irwin Jones, of Huntersville, North Carolina died at home, on Sunday, Mar. 9, 2025 – a week before his 73rd birthday. He was born to Richard M. Jones and Marilyn Jean (Irwin) Jones, on Mar. 16, 1952, in Jamestown, New York.
Kimball graduated from The William Hood Dunwoody Industrial Insititute in Minnesota and Jamestown High School. In his late 40s, attended Jamestown Community College and SUNY Fredonia where he earned a degree in Education, and attended SUNY Buffalo State for graduate work.
He met his current wife, Nancy Clarke of Dunkirk, NY, in June of 1999, when they were both non-traditional students and enrolled in the same statistics class at SUNY Fredonia. Kimball always had a desire to move to North Carolina and they did – where they had a wonderful life together for 20 years, in Huntersville.
Kimball was associated with the family business, Tasty Baking by Jones, in Jamestown, New York. He also spent many years in the transportation industry and taught middle school social studies in Dunkirk and Fredonia, New York and North Carolina. After retiring from trucking, he held a part time warehouse position, which he loved.
Kimball had a wonderful personality and was loved by so many. He absolutely adored his children and grandchildren. They brought the most joy to his heart and soul and he was so proud of them and their achievements.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children Kimberly (Travis) Knight, Sean (Elizabeth) Jones, Amy Mistretta; siblings Candy (John) Schupp, Robin (David) Conklin, and Todd Jonsson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Maxwell, Gabriella, Taylor and Camryn Knight; Cyrus and Sage Jones; Alyssa and Anthony Mistretta; great granddaughter, Avrie Mistretta; and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his in-laws Denise (Kenneth) Maze, Melissa (Michael Brizzee) Maze, Diane (Jeff) Novelli and Andrew Corsoro. He was survived by his wife’s, and his, beloved Aunt June Mayott Greathouse, who then passed away two weeks after Kimball – at the age of 105 § years old!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marilyn Jean Jones; his brother, Matthew Jones, and son-in-law Bob Mistretta; his in-laws Bruce and Charlotte (Mayott) Clarke, (“Charlie”, who held a very special place in his heart – immediately upon being introduced to her and she, him); and nephew Gregory Maze. He was also preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Iva (Morrell) Nalbone who remained a part of his and Nancy’s lives until her death in 2022.

A Celebration of Life and a dessert reception will be held at the Jamestown Hampton Inn, Route 60, on Sunday, June 29th from 1:00 to 3:00. The family thanks Lind Funeral Home for their assistance.
