Kings Cricket Club Sudbury won the Sudbury Kings Cricket Cup 2025 in local cricket action, June 28-29.
That weekend saw Kings Cricket, Big Nickel Cricket Sudbury, Soo XI from Sault Ste. Marie and the North Bay Panthers hit the pitch. After two days of cricket, the final match came down to Kings and the Panthers.
In the finals, North Bay put up 183 runs in 20 overs, batting first at the loss of nine wickets. North Bay Captain Vasudevan K truly played a captain’s knock and anchored their innings with his 56 runs in 37 balls.
In the bowling performance for KCC, thanks to Sahilpreet Singh’s three crucial wickets in his three overs bowling spell helped hold North Bay to under 200 runs.
“Ranvir Singh from North Bay played very well with one century to his name vs KCC Sudbury during league match, helping his team win that match,” Kings Cricket told Sudbury.com. “He scored the first century of the tournament overall followed by Balraj Bhullar later in the league stages. In the finals, KCC Sudbury got Ranvir’s wicket early which was a relief to the host team, but the entire North Bay team pitched in with their individual contributions to help them secure a strong 183 runs on the board.”
However, KCC Sudbury had Muhammad Safwan Raza’s incredible 76 runs in just 33 balls, including six sixes and sixi fours, on their side.
“This performance won him the prestigious award of Player of the Match,” the team said. “Later it was the captain of KCC Sudbury, Navdeep Brar, who displayed absolute fireworks hitting fouir boundaries and two sixes to help his team register their maiden Title Win this season. During the chase, Manikanta Reddy, Balraj Bhullar and Sahilpreet Singh contributed as well.”

A tournament win wasn’t a sure thing for Kings Cricket, either, the team said. KCC found itself
in a must-win situation during the league stages, with only one win out of two matches, meaning Kings could only reach the finals with a win against SOO XI.
“During this do-or-die match for the hosts, KCC Sudbury star performer remained Balraj Bhullar with an exceptional not-out performance of 120 runs in 62 balls at a sky-rocketing strike rate of 194,” the team said. “He remained the top scorer in an individual innings in the tournament and hit the first Century for KCC in this tournament, which is a huge milestone in a T20 match.”
“It was wonderful to see so many families visiting with the players of different teams and making the tournament much more exciting and welcoming for everyone,” Kings told Sudbury.com. “There were certainly many people in the community who were also welcomed to watch and enjoy the matches. MPP Jamie West attended the Finals and cheered on the local KCC Sudbury team as well. He was accompanied by Karanbir Badesha who was also invited to the ceremonies as one of the supporting sponsors.”
