Konstas fails amid crazy start to Shield clash – Wide World of Sports

Sam Konstas was bowled for 10 in his bid to regain selection for the World Test Championship final amid a chaotic start to a Sheffield Shield match in Sydney on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old Test rookie had his stumps rattled when he tried unsuccessfully to heave a Scott Boland delivery through the leg-side in the third over of NSW's clash with Victoria at the SCG.
Konstas and fellow NSW opener Nic Maddinson had attacked the early overs with flare and aggression, pulling out lap shots and walking down the wicket to Boland and fellow opening quick Fergus O'Neill.

Konstas survived an lbw shout after failing to connect while attempting a lap shot, before Maddinson got off the mark with an outside edge that squirted through the cordon.
Victoria conceded 30 runs, including four fours and two sixes, from the first two overs alone.
But both NSW openers were back in the pavilion come the 14th over after Maddinson holed out to a fielder at deep midwicket, departing for 33 from 27 balls as paceman Mitchell Perry struck.
Konstas is hoping to win back his spot in the Australian XI for June's World Test Championship final, in which Pat Cummins' men will face South Africa at Lord's.
The right-hander featured in the final two Tests of the recent Border-Gavaskar series but lost his spot on the tour of Sri Lanka.
