The Afghanistan pair of Rashid Khan and Ibrahim Zadran made significant gains in the ICC ODI rankings, released on Wednesday (October 14).
The two were part of the Afghanistan team that whitewashed Bangladesh 3-0 in the ODI series between the sides last week. Rashid’s 11 wickets in the series have pushed him to No.1 in the world among bowlers, dethroning Keshav Maharaj. This is the third time the leg spinner has been top of the rankings, after separate stints there in 2018 and 2024.

Elsewhere, teammate Azmatullah Omarzai rose 19 places to 21st among bowlers, and also moved up one spot to displace Sikandar Raza and take the No.1 spot among all-rounders. Bangladesh quicks Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman fell by 11 spots each, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib rose 24, to 67th in the world.
The top-score in the series was Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran, who made 213 runs. That haul pushed him to a career-best 764 rating points, and saw him soar from 10th to second in the ODI rankings. 20 points separate him and India’s Shubman Gill, and an all-Afghanistan No.1 in the rankings.
Zadran’s opening partner Rahmanullah Gurbaz moved up two spots to 16th. Bangladesh wicketkeeper Jaker Ali, meanwhile, tumbled 17 places to No.75.
