Live: Derbyshire Falcons v Yorkshire Men, Vitality Blast – Yorkshire County Cricket Club

Yorkshire are back in Vitality Blast action this afternoon, aiming to give their quarter-final hopes another boost with a win over Derbyshire Falcons at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield. Follow our blog for live updates.
Derbyshire chase down 201 to win in 17.2 overs, consigning Yorkshire to a seventh defeat in 10 North Group games and an eighth successive Blast defeat at Chesterfield.
Yorkshire are not mathematically out of the race, but they will certainly have to win the last four games to have a chance.
Wayne Madsen finished 38 not out and Ross Whiteley 29. They shared 60 unbroken.
The Falcons have ended the 17th over at 191-3.
Wayne Madsen has 38 of them.
The hosts now just need 36 run to win this one.
Wayne Madsen has 21 and Ross Whiteley 10.
Samit Patel caught Dom Bess bowled Will O’Rourke, 6.
Miscued to mid-on. Derbyshire still require 60 to win.
Ross Whiteley is in alongside Wayne Madsen.
Aneurin Donald caught James Wharton bowled Jafer Chohan, 85.
His 30-ball innings comes to an end having been caught by Wharton running in from deep mid-wicket.
Now, can Yorkshire squeeze things? Derbyshire are chasing 201.
Samit Patel has joined Wayne Madsen at the crease.
Caleb Jewell caught Will O’Rourke bowled Will Sutherland, 32.
    Miscued pull to short third.
Yorkshire have the breakthrough, but they need Aneurin Donald out quickly. He has 75.
    Wayne Madsen in now.
The Falcons are well on their way to chasing down 201. Aneurin Donald has 62 and Caleb Jewell 20.
Donald has just passed a concussion test having been clonked on the head by a Will O’Rourke.
Fair play to Donald, this has been some innings. But Yorkshire will have been frustrated at being off the pace with the ball and in the field.
Aneurin Donald has hit the joint fastest fifty in Blast history, off 13 balls. Derbyshire are 63-0 in the fourth over. Quite the innings.
The hosts are chasing 201 and are well on their way.
This is an incredible starter from Derbyshire, who are 51-0 off 2.2 overs.
Aneurin Donald has 43 off 10 balls.
Dom Bess has taken the new ball for the White Rose.
Caleb Jewell and Aneurin Donald are opening, and they’ve taken 20 off the first over, including a Donald six over deep square.
Jordan Thompson hits 3x6s in the last over as 24 come from it. He top-scores with 37, and 46 came off Zak Chappell’s last two overs.
    What a finish!
Will Sutherland caught Ross Whiteley bowled Pat Brown, 17.
Fabulous diving catch above his head at deep cover. He landed inches inside the rope.
Dom Bess in now alongside Jordan Thompson.
Think someone in the media tent has written something Will Sutherland doesn’t like!
He’s hoisted a six onto the roof and has drilled two boundaries in our direction. He has 17 out of 162-4 in the 18th.
Matthew Revis caught Harry Came bowled Pat Brown, 26.
He becomes the third batter in the innings to be caught at long-on.
Jordan Thompson in alongside Will Sutherland, who has 9.
Yorkshire have had a lot of starts with anybody able to go on. Still, they’re in a healthy position.
James Wharton caught Harry Came bowled Mohammad Ghazanfar, 33.
    Caught long-on low down.
Will Sutherland in now to join Matthew Revis, 13.
    James can do too.
After Jonny Bairstow hit a six out of the ground earlier, James Wharton has just done the same against Samit Patel’s left-arm spin – over long-on at the Lake End. He has 24 out of 108-3 after 13 overs. Super shot.
Will Luxton caught Harry Came bowled Samit Patel, 14.
Luxton can’t clear long-on against the former England left-arm spin bowling all-rounder.
    Matthew Revis in now.
James Wharton has just heaved Martin Andersson’s medium pace over mid-wicket for six, thudding into the side of the practice nets and then drilled him for four through cover. He has 15 of 88-2 after 10 overs.
Jonny Bairstow caught behind Aneurin Donald bowled Zak Chappell, 29.
Short ball which he tries to run to third and can only find the keeper’s gloves.
James Wharton in now alongside Will Luxton, who has 2.
The former Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder, a big cricket fan, is at Queen’s Park today.
Dawid Malan bowled Mohammad Ghazanfar, 22.
The Yorkshire captain loses his middle stump against the Afghanistan off-spinner.
Jonny Bairstow is on 19 and is joined by Will Luxton.
Jonny Bairstow has just cleared the trees at the Lake End of the ground, off Pat Brown. He has 19 out added to Dawid Malan’s 22. Malan has hit two sixes.
A Dawid Malan six over cover off Alex Thomson is followed by a similar shot from Jonny Bairstow, albeit just for four.
    Yorkshire 24-0.
And you can add six more to that as Malan hoists the first ball from Zak Chappell down the ground at the start of the fourth. He has 20 of 30-0.
Dawid Malan has 6 and Jonny Bairstow 3. Only one boundary so far against double spin from Derbyshire in Alex Thomson and Mohammad Ghazanfar, a fierce cut from Malan.
Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow are opening the batting for Yorkshire once again.
Alex Thomson will open the bowling with his off-spin.
Yorkshire: Jonny Bairstow w, Dawid Malan c, Will Luxton, James Wharton, Will Sutherland, Matthew Revis, Jordan Thompson, Dom Bess, Matt Milnes, Jafer Chohan, Will O’Rourke.
Same team for Yorkshire as Friday night.
A look at the other fixtures around the grounds today in the Vitality Blast.

There was a rain delay at Edgbaston for day five versus India, but play has started. England are 73-3 needing 535 more to win. It’s one of the rare occasions Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes will think the draw is a good result given they’re 1-0 up in the series.
Ollie Pope has 24, Harry Brook 16.
The sun’s out now at Queen’s Park.
The locals are very confident that we will have no issues with the weather this afternoon.

The rain has arrived at Chesterfield. It’s sweeping across the Queen’s Park ground.
Derbyshire Falcons v Yorkshire Men – Vitality Blast Preview

From Chesterfield, where it’s currently dry ahead of a 2.30pm start. Whether it remains that way, we shall see.
This fixture – a 5,000 sellout – brings the Queen’s Park ground’s Festival to an end, with them having hosted Lancashire in the Rothesay County Championship as part of it. The Red Rose county won that game last week.
Clearly, Yorkshire need to win to boost their quarter-final hopes. With five games left, it might be that they need to win all of them to have a chance of qualifying. Four would be a minimum. So missing the chance to beat the bottom side in the group would be a major frustration.
Having said that, Derbyshire will say, ‘Hang on a minute, we’ve beaten you in the last seven Blast games at this venue’.
Yorkshire’s last Blast win here was in 2014. Since then, they have won Championship and Metro Bank One-Day Cup matches.
Dawid Malan’s side come into this game on the back of Friday’s big win over Worcestershire at Headingley, their third in nine games. Derbyshire have lost seven from nine and were beaten by Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford yesterday afternoon.
This will be Will O’Rourke’s last game for Yorkshire this season. The New Zealand fast bowler claimed five wickets against Worcestershire and has taken 14 in nine games so far in the campaign.
You can access our preview for this game, with Anthony McGrath talking about O’Rourke and fellow overseas star Will Sutherland, via the link above.
As one overseas Will departs after a trip to Chesterfield tomorrow, the other Will has extended his stay with Yorkshire for a bit longer through until the start of next month. And Anthony McGrath has hailed the impact of Messrs O’Rourke and Sutherland over the last couple of months.
Yorkshire claimed a much-needed win – their third of the North Group in nine games – by 41 runs to keep their quarter-final flame flickering.
