The Mumbai Indians (MI) will be playing their first home game this season and will be looking to get their first points on the table too in the upcoming fixture. MI are the only team in the tournament so far who have not got any points on the board and will be looking to get their season underway with their first win tonight.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on the other hand, might have not started the tournament with a win but have managed to make a comeback in the game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Guwahati. The defending champions, led by Ajinkya Rahane, would want to continue the solid performance they showed in the previous match at the Wankhede Stadium against one of their toughest rivals in the league.
The Mumbai franchise was outplayed by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their opening game and failed to chase down the total against Gujarat Titans (GT) in their last game. Hardik Pandya could not end the MI win drought in Ahmedabad and will be hoping he finally gets a win at home. The team will be hoping their senior players in the form of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Trent Boult and Pandya himself find some form and play some match-winning innings.
Speaking of KKR, even though they managed to win the game against RR comfortably there are still some issues they have faced and will wish to overcome them going into the future. While the spinners have done fairly well so far, their pace attack has leaked some runs in the last two games they have played. This will be a big issue since they will be up against some explosive batters within the MI squad.
