Harry Maguire has restored Manchester United's lead in the closing stages of their clash against Liverpool and Anfield.
Bryan Mbeumo stunned the Premier League champions early on, lashing past Giorgi Mamardashvili with exactly 60 seconds on the clock. Cody Gakpo hit the post three times for the hosts before equalising from close range in the 78th minute.
With Liverpool looking more likely to get the third goal, it was Maguire who popped up in the penalty area to head United back into the lead.
Another chance fell Gakpo's way as the home side sought an immediate response, but he headed wide when he should have scored.

There's a very decent amount of added time for Liverpool to find another equaliser!

Another excellent cross from Jeremie Frimpong and Diogo Dalot just has to scramble it behind awkwardly off his midriff.
The corner is cleared and Matheus Cunha does so, so well to hold off Frimpong and keep hold of the ball.
Defensive weaknesses once again costing Liverpool. That's the seventh time in 12 games in all competitions so far this season that they have conceded twice.
All that hard work undone. Ibrahima Konate was partly at fault but they were queuing up at the far post to score.
Wow. Maguire got up off the turf after being clattered to head United back in front with five mins to go.
A season on from missing at the Anfield Road End to win a match for United.
Maguire celebrated in front of the Liverpool fans but then made a point of going over to the away section.
Harry Maguire’s home city of Sheffield should be renamed ‘Harry Maguire’ out of respect for that goal.

HOW has Cody Gakpo missed that?! He could have had five goals today!
Frimpong nearly makes an impact within seconds of coming on, scorching down the right and standing up a cross from the byline to the back post.
Cody Gakpo waiting, free and unmarked. He nodded it wide.
Gasps of disbelief from the home fans. That had to be a goal, really.

United respond by bringing on Leny Yoro and Kobbie Mainoo for Luke Shaw and Bruno Fernandes.
Liverpool replace Mohamed Salah with Jeremie Frimpong.

This match is spectacular.
Harry Maguire raises his arms to the away fans, pumping his fists in delight in front of the throng of supporters going absolutely barmy.
From a United corner taken by Fernandes, Mbeumo whacked a volley goalwards, well blocked but the ball flew back out to Fernandes.
From there, it was a wonderful pass-cum-cross from the Portuguese midfielder, who sent an arcing, arrowing parabola back into the penalty area and into danger.
Maguire was unmarked and nodded it past a helpless Mamardashvili. Simple as that!

I don't believe it! Harry Maguire finds the net and Manchester United have stunned Anfield once again!
Anfield is bouncing. They believe they can win this now.
Massive credit to Chiesa for the part he played in Gakpo's goal. He really needs to be given more opportunities to shine.
The Italian a difference every time he comes on.

We're hearing Cody Gakpo was due to be coming off for Jeremie Frimpong in Liverpool's final sub moments before he equalised.
Now that decision has been reversed. He stays on!
Ruben Amorim has turned to his bench, though.

How Cody Gakpo must be relieved and delighted after hitting the post a grand total of three times so far today before that leveller.
After a series of set pieces, it never really felt like United managed to get the ball away fully.
A massive tackle from Van Dijk prevented a United counter attack, hooking it around Bryan Mbeumo, and Liverpool surged down the left.
Sub Federico Chiesa with another goal involvement off the bench, squaring it for Cody Gakpo, a clever cross beyond the United defence but in front of goalie Senne Lammens.
Gakpo nearly missed it but with his instep just about managed to find the corner of the unguarded net. A brief check for offside shows he is on and we are level at Anfield!

Cody Gakpo has it in the net now!
But is it offside? No! Patrick Dorgu is playing him on!
77' Liverpool 0-1 Manchester United
Neat footwork from Liverpool outside the box, Szoboszlai side-stepping Ugarte, who over-committed himself, then sliding it into Salah.
Patrick Dorgu did well to poke it behind to deny the Egyptian a shot.
Corner, cleared, another, cleared.
But wait…
This game is so stretched now.
Liverpool looking threatening with Wirtz finding pockets of space but United are a threat on the counter.
75' Liverpool 0-1 Manchester United
For all the nail-biting and freneticism of the action, there is still more than 15 minutes, plus added time, for Liverpool to find at least a goal.
Only one more sub for the hosts, but plenty of time.
The trick for United will be scoring the second.

Chiesa is on, but Salah stays on. Instead it's Isak coming off.
Nowhere near good enough from the £125million striker.
Salah then gives the ball back to United with a really poor cross. Easy for Lammens to claim.
72' Liverpool 0-1 Manchester United
It must be much better for the blood pressure of United fans having a seemingly cool and calm goalkeeper like Senne Lammens between the sticks rather than the generally inconsistent Andre Onana.
That said… Luke Shaw cleared a ball straight up in the air and Lammens took too many steps forward in claiming it.
He eventually, just about, caught the ball nearly a yard behind his head!

Federico Chiesa looks to be coming on too.
The Italian has scored a few late goals for Liverpool this season.
My bet on who's coming off? The ineffective and disappointing Mohamed Salah.
Who would have thought it?
