LSU Reacts to Angel Reese News on Sunday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has continued her dominance on the glass in her second season. After leading the league in rebounding in 2024 with 13.1 per game, she’s averaging 12.6 rebounds so far this year—2.8 more than the second-highest player, Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson.
The 6-foot-3 forward is also putting up 12.4 points per game and has recorded 10 double-doubles in just 16 games.
On Sunday, the WNBA announced the reserves for the 2025 All-Star Game, and unsurprisingly, Reese was among them. It’s her second All-Star bid since being selected No. 7 overall in the 2024 WNBA draft.
Several hours later, her alma mater, LSU, reacted to the news with a social media post of its own.
“The Bayou Barbie. Two-Time All-Star,” LSU said.
Reese began her college career at the University of Maryland, playing two seasons there before transferring to LSU to play for legendary head coach Kim Mulkey.
The move paid off—she was named a unanimous First-Team All-American, won a national championship and earned NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors. She was also a two-time First-Team All-SEC selection and won SEC Player of the Year.
In two seasons in Baton Rouge, Reese averaged 20.9 points, 14.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
The 23-year-old is considered a legend in the eyes of LSU Tigers fans, and the support from her university remains strong, even at the next level.
The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game is scheduled for July 19 at 8:30 p.m. ET. It will be held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
