    Magnolia Beats Trinity 3-2 in Region 1 Semifinals – wetzelchronicle.com

    The Blue Eagles hosted a Region 1 semifinal against the Trinity Warriors on Monday evening November 3, following the Warriors win over Notre Dame in the first match of the evening. The Eagles then picked up the win in a close match going five sets, 23-25, 25-16, 26-24, 22-25, and 15-6.
    The win sent the Blue Eagles into the finals against Madonna on Wednesday night, with Magnolia needing to win two straight matches to earn a berth in the state tournament at Charleston.
    On Tuesday Trinity won the first set 25-23 in a back-in-forth set with both teams exchanging leads throughout, before the visitors scored the last two points to get a hard fought win.
    In the second set, Magnolia’s big hitters showed up with Karli Warder and Jessa Anderson each having 5 kills apiece to lift the Eagles to the set win 25-16.
    The third set was another close battle with the Eagles winning the set in overtime 26-24 on a Warriors miscue and a hard kill by Warder.
    The fourth set was close throughout the set with the Warriors scoring the final three points to come out on top 25-22 and force a fifth set.
    Sophomore Bella Sockman came up big in the final set with a block and two kills to help the Eagles take the match with a 15-6 win to move on to face Madonna at Weirton.
    Magnolia was led in the win by Anderson with 25 kills, 40 digs, 15 service points, including three no touch aces, one assist and one block. Sydney Quinet had a big night as well as she offered up 54 assists, 119 sets, 30 digs, 16 service points, including three aces, and six kills.
    McKensey Longwell added 14 points from the serve line, 10 digs and one assist. Karli Warder had 17 kills and two blocks at the net, plus 14 digs, four points, including an ace, and four assists. Blla Sockman came on strong at the net with 10 kills and a block, plus four digs. Sidney Knight added eight service points, including two aces, six kills, 14 digs, three assists and a block. Hallee Beisel had 35 digs, four points and an assist. Katie Householder added three kills and four digs.
    The Eagles improved to 15-14 on the season.
    Trinity finished the season at 12-14.
