The Mets continued their terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week with an awful loss to the Phillies to make it seven straight defeats. Blade Tidwell started for the Mets and actually kept the team in the game, but did give up two runs before leaving the game in the fourth. Zack Wheeler held the Amazins scoreless for five innings, but as soon as he left the team did tie things up with back-to-back homers from Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil. Alas, Reed Garrett and Justin Garza would combine to give up eight runs in the final two innings, and the Mets offense was unable to do anything else for the rest of the night.
