In a decree published in the Official Gazette on the last day of 2024, the Ministry of Sports has regulated a list of over 300 sports and sports entities eligible for fixed-odds betting on actual sport-themed events.
With the launch of the regulated fixed-odds betting market in Brazil on January 1, the following sports are now authorized for betting:
Betting is prohibited on non-professional sports events and competitions that are not officially recognized by the competent authorities, especially those involving non-professional participants without affiliations to recognized sports entities or those that do not meet the professionalism criteria established by current legislation.
Furthermore, betting will not be allowed on events involving youth categories or events exclusively featuring underage athletes in any sport.
A notable addition to the list is the inclusion of the “X1” format within Society Football, along with equestrian sports mentioned in Law No. 13.364/2016, such as Roping Events, Speed Events: Five Barrels, Maneuverability and Speed, Six Barrels and Three Barrels, Ring, Cavalcade, Cavalhada, Gait Competition, Morphology Judging, Campereada, Gold Training, Golden Bridle, Paleteada, Vaquejada, Rodeos, and Reining rides.
