Rohit Sharma is in sensational touch as Mumbai chase 237 against Sikkim, bringing up a blistering fifty off just 28 balls. Returning to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after seven years, Rohit opened for Mumbai at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, immediately taking the game to the bowlers.
The 38-year-old dazzled the crowd with seven fours and four sixes, turning the chase into a masterclass as Mumbai race along at 79 without loss after 12 overs.
Rohit Sharma is leading Mumbai’s charge in the chase, already looking in prime touch with 14 off 10, including two crisp boundaries. Angkrish Raghuvanshi stays solid at the other end, but it’s Rohit who’s taking control and setting the tone for Mumbai’s innings.
Sikkim sign off with a competitive 236 for 7, putting up a decent fight against Mumbai. Ashish Thapa leads the way with a composed 79, holding the innings together and giving Sikkim something to bowl at.
Sikkim’s momentum takes a hit as Ashish Thapa departs for 79 off 87, caught by Shams Mulani off Shardul Thakur. Thapa had been holding the innings together brilliantly, and his dismissal brings a crucial wicket at a pivotal moment, leaving Sikkim to regroup.
Sikkim find a hero in Ashish Thapa, who’s racing toward a century, unbeaten on 70 off 72. Kranthi Kumar sticks with him, keeping the innings steady as Thapa closes in on three figures and Sikkim eye a strong total.
Mumbai are finally settling after early setbacks. Ashish Thapa is unbeaten on 44 off 48, keeping the scoreboard ticking, while Kranthi Kumar adds 12 off 21. The pair are building a partnership to steady Mumbai’s innings.
Mumbai are in a bit of a tussle as they search for their second wicket. K Sai Satwik is holding firm with 29 off 44, keeping the innings alive, while Amit Rajera has already fallen cheaply, caught behind by Hardik Tamore off Tushar Deshpande. Ashish Thapa joins the action and is steadying things with 13 off 20, Mumbai need a partnership to get back on track.
Early shake-up for Sikkim, and it’s a familiar sinking feeling. Amit Rajera is the first to go, edging one behind as Tushar Deshpande strikes straightaway. Hardik Tamore does the rest safely, and Sikkim are one down before they’ve even settled.

The spotlight is firmly on Rohit Sharma rather than the contest itself. Making his first appearance in India’s premier domestic one-day tournament since 2018, Rohit returns following a BCCI directive urging centrally contracted players to feature in domestic cricket when free from national duty. More importantly, the Mumbai skipper will use this outing to fine-tune his game ahead of the upcoming New Zealand ODI series, with fans watching closely for signs of rhythm and form.
