Namibia and Zimbabwe grabbed the two spots from the eight-team Africa qualifier and now Nepal, UAE and Oman have confirmed their spot in the next year’s T20 World Cup from East-Asia pacific qualifiers.
Congratulations to Nepal, UAE and Oman for qualifying for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The other teams also put up a great effort but fell short this time. The must have learnt a lot from this tournament and will surely be back much stronger next time.
Nepal in T20 World Cup Asia & EAP Qualifiers 2025
✅ Beat Kuwait by 58 runs
✅ Beat Japan by 5 wkts
✅ Beat UAE in thrilling 1-run win
✅ Beat Qatar by 5 runs
✅ Beat Oman by 38 runs
✅ Beat Samoa by 124 runs
6 match, 6 wins — Nepal won Asia & EAP Qualifiers Trophy
And that’s it. Nepal have won and they are the champions. It was too easy for them. First dominated with the bat and then destroyed the Samoan batting lineup with brutal bowling display.
Sean Solia, the only batter who was looking good, also dismissed after scoring 40 runs. And Samoa now have lost their 6th wicket as well.
And they lose their 5th wicket in the18th over. The have only scored 79 runs. So it’s impossible to win from here. But did they even try to win it? It’s hard to say yes because there was lack of intent there.
Samoa aren’t going to win if they continue to play like this. Even crossing a 100-run mark looks difficult from here on. They need to buckle up. Samson Sola departed after scoring just 9 runs off 17 balls. And Samoa are now 4 down.
Things are not looking good for Samoa now. They have lost their third wicket. Solomon Nash’s struglling knock comes to an end as he departs on just 3 after 10 balls. Samoa still need 179 runs to win.
Another soft dismissal. It was a tossed-up delivery on middle, Mailata looked to drive straight back down the ground but ended up chipping it in the air. Rajbanshi reacts quickly in his follow-through, stretches both hands up and takes a sharp return catch. Samoa lose their second wicket.
Samoa have lost their opener Karan KC on just 4 runs in the 3rd over. They weren’t expecting this kind of start, especially while chasing a 200+ target. The upcoming batters need to be more cautious now.
Here we go then, all set for the first ball of the innings. Karan KC steams in from the pavilion end, new ball in hand. Solia takes guard, tapping the pitch a couple of times.
What a finish by Lokesh Bam. He has smashed 39 runs off just 12 balls. This is going to be tough for the Samoa batters. Nepal bowlers aren’t going to let this match go away easily, they have enough total to defend.
The Nepal batters are ruthlessly going after Samoa bowlers. After Aasif Sheikh’s half-century, Dipendra Singh Airee follows suit. Airee is playing at a strike rate of over 160. Nepal 160/3 after 16.4 overs.
Opening batter Kushal Bhurtel has been removed from the crease for 17 off 15 by Saumani Tiai. However, Nepal are looking lethal and are maintaining a run rate of 8.80 per over.
Nepal have got off to a terrific start, thanks to openers Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh.
Nepal playing XI: Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh (wk), Rohit Paudel (c), Dipendra Singh Airee, Aarif Sheikh, Gulsan Jha, Lokesh Bam, Karan KC, Nandan Yadav, Sandeep Lamichhane, Lalit Rajbanshi
Samoa playing XI: Sean Solia, Darius Visser, Benjamin Mailata, Samuel French (wk), Caleb Jasmat (c), Saumani Tiai, Fereti Sululoto, Samson Sola, Solomon Nash, Daniel Burgess, Noah Mead
News from the centre – Samoa have won the toss and they will bowl first.
