After a slow and unsteady start for UAE, Alishan Sharafu has provided much needed stabilty to their chase.
Nepal looked lethal in the opening overs and have given away some off the pressure as the powerplay came to an end here in Oman.
Sompal gets the UAE skipper Waseem and Nepal have applied pressure early on.
They are not going to make this chase a walk in the park for UAE.
Nepal began confidently against UAE, getting through a wicketless powerplay and enjoying a solid half-century from opener Aasif Sheikh, but the disciplined UAE attack gradually asserted control. Junaid Siddique, Haider Ali, Muhammad Rohid, Zahid Ali, Harshit Kaushik, and Dhruv Parashar each picked up a wicket, with Haider Ali delivering a standout spell, conceding just 22 runs off his four overs at an economy rate of 5.5. Muhammad Rohid also impressed, giving away only 28 runs from his full quota and maintaining steady pressure in the middle overs. Thanks to a brisk cameo from Gulshan Jha late in the innings, Nepal managed to reach 140 for 6 in 20 overs, but UAE’s bowlers kept their lines tight and ensured Nepal never broke past the 160 mark they once seemed on track for.
Succesive breaks here by UAE who have put the pressure right back on Nepal.
Nepal will aim to reach a competitive total to snatch momentum from UAE but UAE are making that seem impossible with their tight bowling.
Nepal are able to manage an occasional boundary but UAE have bowled with immense discipline so far.
With wickets in hand, Nepal should aim for a solid total anywhere above 160 and get the burners lit up.
Aasif Sheikh is nearing his 50 currently on 46*.
Kushal Bhurtel departs as UAE strike their first wicket.
Harshit Kaushik got him out LBW on 28 off 26.
Aasif Sheikh is now joined by skipper Rohit Paudel who are now rebuilding Nepal’s innings.
Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh have both looked solid in the powerplay giving Nepal a wicket-less start.
Their next goal will be firing up the run rate and to capitalise on this platform.
UAE still require a break.
Nepal are off to a steady start courtesy of Kushal Bhurtel who has started off with a six and a four. They are eying a good powerplay total.
UAE on the other hand look for their first breakthrough.
