The Boston Bruins are continuing to add to their forward depth and have signed a player from one of their biggest rivals.
The Bruins have announced that they have signed former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Alex Steeves to a one-year, $850,000 contract for the 2025-26 season.
Steeves appeared in seven games with the Maple Leafs this past season, where he posted one goal, one assist, and a plus-3 rating. He also recorded 36 goals and 62 points in 59 games with the Maple Leafs' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.
With this signing, Steeves will provide the Bruins with another option to consider for their bottom six. At a minimum, he should be a key offensive contributor for the Providence Bruins, especially when looking at his AHL stats from this past season with the Marlies.
In 14 career NHL games over four seasons, Steeves has recorded one goal, three points, 29 hits, and a minus-1 rating. It will be interesting to see how much he improves upon these career stats with the Bruins next season from here.
