After an early exit in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels have already gone through some major roster changes.
Following the first-round loss to Ole Miss, guard RJ Davis finished out his senior season, likely heading to the pros. UNC also lost four players to the transfer portal, including fellow starting guard Elliot Cadeau and forward Jalen Washington.
But Hubert Davis has already put in work to fill his roster for next season, and on Sunday, he added his fourth transfer.
According to On3’s Joe Tipton, UNC has landed Alabama forward Jarin Stevenson in the transfer portal.
“NEWS: Alabama transfer forward Jarin Stevenson, a Chapel Hill native, has committed to North Carolina, source tells @On3sports,” Tipton wrote on X.
Stevenson, a 6-foot-11, 215-pounder from Pittsboro, NC, was a four-star prospect coming out of Seaforth High School in 2023 (247 Sports). He ranked as the 50th-best prospect in his class and the 2nd-best in North Carolina.
Stevenson earned playing time during his freshman season with Alabama (2023-24), tallying 16.6 minutes per game, mostly off the bench. He finished his first year averaging 5.3 points and 2.7 rebounds.
In his sophomore year, Stevenson was in and out of the starting lineup all season, seeing his averages go slightly up to 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in 18.7 minutes per game.
Now, Stevenson will be returning to the Chapel Hill area with two seasons of college eligibility remaining. Joining him in North Carolina’s transfer portal class includes West Virginia’s Jonathan Powell, Colorado State’s Kyan Evans and Arizona’s Henri Veesaar.
