MARQUETTE — The women’s and men’s swimming and diving teams at Northern Michigan University had dominating performances on their opening weekend Oct. 3-4, at the PEIF pool.
The Wildcats hosted Lake Superior State, Davenport and St. Cloud State of Minnesota for the two days.
The women won every event over two sessions on opening day, Oct. 3, also taking 27 of a possible 39 podium — those who place in the top three — finishes.
For day 2 on Oct. 4, the NMU women again won all eight events and secured 20 of 24 podium positions.
The Northern men won 11 of 13 events in the double-session opening day, grabbing 22 of 39 podium places, then won six of eight events on day 2, taking 14 of 24 podium spots.
The Wildcats don’t swim again for about 10 days, heading to University Center and Saginaw Valley State to face the Cardinals and Findlay on Friday, Oct. 24. The following day, NMU crosses the Lower Peninsula west to Allendale to take on Grand Valley State on Saturday, Oct. 25.
Here are some details from the Oct. 3-4 meets:
    Women’s meets

In diving, the Wildcats’ Kalina Ceglinski won the one- and three-meter events, with freshman Grace Daly runner-up in the one-meter and third in the three-meter.
Another freshman, Emma Casas, won the 100 backstroke and swam with the 200 medley and 200 free relays that also both won.
