CBS Sports | R.J. Anderson: The Yankees were involved in a weird moment in Sunday’s game, when Max Fried’s no-hitter bid was broken up off the field via a ruling from an official scorer. While the decision itself is understandable as said by Aaron Boone in the postgame, the timing of it was frustrating and felt a little off, no matter what the actual intentions of the scorer were. The single up the middle that followed in the eighth stands as the only no-doubt hit allowed by Fried on the afternoon.
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: That wasn’t the only controversial moment from Sunday. In the top of the eighth, Aaron Judge demolished a baseball high and deep over the left-field fence at George M. Steinbrenner Field for what was ruled a foul ball. Despite a challenge and — at least from the replays shown on television — seeming evidence that the ball was fair, the call on the field was allowed to stand, as the video review was apparently inconclusive.
The moment led to visible frustration from Judge and an ejection for Boone. Both Aarons remained steadfast after the game that the ball was fair and that the Yankees’ captain should have another home run on his tally.
ESPN: Saturday saw a scary moment for the Yankees when 2025’s breakout star so far, Ben Rice, was hit on the elbow by a pitch and eventually left the game. Good news is that the X-rays came back clear, and, while he didn’t play in the matinee, Rice was doing better on Sunday. Hopefully, he’s feeling ready to go for the three-game set early this week in Cleveland.
CBS Sports | Matt Synder: Former Yankees prospect Agustín Ramírez is being called up and is expected to make his debut for the Miami Marlins. A catcher known for his bat more than his glove, Ramírez was the headliner going the other way in the Yankees’ trade for Jazz Chisholm Jr. last July, and is considered one of Miami’s best prospects.
